So this weekend Big Vic was due for the 10K service. Got treated to an oil change, Stage 1 and Performance filter installed. I had already drilled the baffles out of the stock exhaust as well as opened the ends up a little bit. The update was well worth it. Better gas mileage, better performance, smoother throttle. It seems like it does it's job a little more effortlessly now. You really feel it up top but even down low below 2000rpm it used to lug really bad causing me to have to downshift a lot to avoid it, now it pulls out great from 1500rpm barely lugging at all. That bit of driveability is really nice, less shifting is good lol.

Overall it was $385 to do everything, parts and labor, tune the whole deal. Pretty happy camper right now!

And of course in true Florida fashion this we got rain coming so I can't ride it.

Nobody ever told me I couldn't ride the VV in the rain! I guess I will have to stop doing that.

Oh it's not that I can't, I just prefer not to. A: it gets to damn dirty, B: I don't like trashing my dress clothes in the rain and C: the roads here are slick as ice when it rains. While some of you retired folk don't have issue B I'm still in the working world and have to dress up for work so riding 25 miles in the rain really sucks and no matter how good the rain gear, the water always seems to find a way in lol.

All of what you did has nothing to do with lugging.
Lugging is you and your lazy habits.
Don't be lazy down shift to next gear your motor will last longer.
I have a harley rain suit from when I road one paid $175 bucks for it and I swear I could be in a hurricane and never get wet. You get what you pay for

Wow who pissed in your cornflakes. This thread isn't about how I choose to ride the bike I paid my own money for. It has nothing to do with lazy habits either. Fact of riding is you sometimes end up below 2k rpm in a given situation. For example the GoldWing I used to ride has enough torque to pull out of almost any gear any speed without so much as a whimper.

What I did has EVERYTHING to do with the engine lugging. The performance changes change WHERE and HOW MUCH power the engine makes at a given RPM. having more torque available on a broader RPM range provides a better riding experience. less shifting up and down which takes wear and tear off the transmission. More shifting is NOT a good thing. The more times you click those gears the more wear and tear on everyone of those components. I'm not trying to start in 5th gear I'm talking about everyday riding situations where I don't want to have to downshift 2 gears just to pull away from the toll booth at 45mph. Having readily available tq on hand that lets the engine pull out effortlessly now instead or working to do it equates to a much better, easier, more comfortable and relaxing riding experience. Maybe you like shifting up and down all the time when you shouldn't have to, I really don't.

As for Rain Gear I also have a very good suit but there is this little area called your head with a helmet on it, so unless your zipping your helmet and head into the suit that whole neck area is exposed to running water. So unless your riding in a cage your gonna get a little wet somewhere. And you know what if I don't want to ride in the rain I don't flippin have to. That's my choice. I choose not to for safety and comfort reasons, that's my choice. I don't give you shit for your choices so please refrain if you can.


How did this thread turn to shit so fast. I simply posted about how great the performance changes were and bragging about my Vision and I got people in here complaining about riding in the rain and spouting off on things they clearly don't understand entirely...

Jeez.... what happened...

I agree with PhantomX about some recent threads...Some of you guys can be real "jerks" and get so far from the original intent of the post with your "off the wall" opinion and comments, I sometimes question your rationale and brain power......Wow!!!!

As for gains it was noticeable. Mostly around daily drivability with all the mods combined. There is a nice surge of power up top (by no means rocket ship but noticeable) and the down low drivability and tq is better. The engine just feels more effortless and at ease.

As for mpg I'm still getting through the first tank but on flat land at 75mph indicated I was running 38-40 on the instant setting and now it's 42-44 for the same stretch of road. I am being a bit ham fisted with it because it feels better but even with that I'm at about 115 miles coming up to half a tank where I'm almost always around 100 at half tank consistently. That pretty closely matches the higher readings on the instant read out.

So far so good. It also deepens the exhaust note slightly I would attribute that to more air in/out and maybe some intake noise too.
