I thought I posted this yesterday but it never appeared. I have gone from two Harleysm Dyna Wide Glide to a 2006 Jackpot and Ultra Classic to a new Vision. Let me say I could not be happier but have some problems I would like to get comments on. I have had all of the usual electronic problems with the Vision, Ipod not working correctly, volume button changes radio stations, low CB volume on headset, only one speaker in headset working, CB transmissions cut off after 5 seconds, etc. I have had the bike at my dealers on at least 4-5 occasions trying to correct all of these problems. The biggest problem I have is that even though Victory in writing said that the CB would transmit through the external speakers after the next update, they have now said it will NEVER transmit through the external speakers. If you are listening to your music through the external speakers and get a CB transmission through the headset, it will not even mute the music on the external speakers. Let me say I do a 6,000 mile trip every year with the same friend and through the years we both have found that wearing our earplugs the best and clearest sound is through the external speakers. I only choose to wear the headset for the use of the microphone. Both Harley and Honda permit any and all sound to be put through the external speakers, your choice. In addition, both of them have the CB as a separate box where Victory choose to combine the CB and intercom system incorporated into the same box which to me is another problem. I am very disappointed in Victory's choice of the electronic system in such a great bike. I know some of you will think this is not a big deal with the CB not transmitting through the external speakers, but after doing this for the past 12 years it is something I am quite used to and cannot understand why the Vision cannot do this. Also, my dealer has busted their butts trying to resolve this problem until last Friday when Victory finally acknowledged it was not going to work. I apologize for such a rambling post.

at least you dealer has been busting their butts to help you. The dealer I bought mine from could give two sh**ts if my electronics work or not. I'm taking it to a different dealer tomorrow. Even though I didn't buy from them, they seem interested in working on my bike.

Bill I agree with you on the need to have the CB audio go through the speakers or have the external speakers muted. My friend Kevin and I have the same issue and I was going to raise it with Victory. Since the audio system is manufactured by Radio Sound who had manufactured the audio and CB systems for Harley for years they should be able to do anything that Harley had done. I know an engineer at Victory that might be able to help and I am going to work through my dealer and regional rep also.

Once your dealer updates your firmware some of your issues will be fixed like the CB only transmitting for 5 seconds at a time.

Thanks for your response, I didn't want to be the only one out there who wants the CB transmissions through the external speakers. Also, you are correct about the manufacturer and that is what baffles me as to why the Vision system does not work the same as HD and Honda. The only thing they added was the Ipod connection that HD and Honda don't have and the way it works I would have rather seen it not as part of the system. Please keep me advised if anything happens, my dealer spent numerous hours on the phone with Victory and supposedly the manufacturer with the same answer from both, it will not work.

I'll chime in too. I agree that the only way possible to use the CB if you're listening to the radio/ipod/xm system is to have it come in on the external speakers. I've had mine at the shop twice and had the latest audio update done. Still the volume on CB reception is too low, unless someone is shouting into their mic and close in range.
Love the bike, hate the $600 wasted on poor quality CB.

Anyone try a J&M C.B mounted on the handle bars, this maybe the best way to get a higher performance C.B system?

If you are having trouble hearing the CB while riding you should try the J&M top of the line headset speakers and mic. They are a lot louder than the Victory ones. If you have the external speakers on while riding and someone talks to you over the CB you still could have a hard time hearing what they are saying if you have the external speakers turned way up. This is because they are not muted when the CB is used nor is the CB signal sent over the external speakers. The J&M headset is much better.

I'm new to the CB on a MC and am just getting used to adjusting the volume, squelch etc. Howver, I seem to have the opposite problem you guys have. When I receive a transmission (oxymoron) It is way load and I have to turn it down so I can understand it. I usually have my external Speakers off, even though the Garmin insists on squaling through the external speakers regardless. By the way, any way to stop the Garmon from talking through the external pseakers?
I'll play with it a little more and document my findings. I think we can get some respect as a user group.

I have reviewed most of the post I could find on the topic of the CB/Icom system. From what I have read so far it would appear that we have no solid conclusion regarding the systems form over function and whether it functions on the street model without the tour pac? I would like to get the system but I'm facing a dilemma as to whether to spend the dollars on the Victory system or the J&M system.

Anyone have a more definitive response as to the value of this system?
