| Hey I am about to bleed and replenish brake fluid. In the manual it says that I need to victory dot 4 brake. Does it really make a difference if its `victory``brake fluid or is regular dot 4 alright? Thanks |

Danbury, Connecticut | Any DOT 4 is fine. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point but tends to absorb more moisture from the atmosphere than DOT 3 so it needs to be changed a little more frequently. |

| thanks for the info... I thought that they recommended specifically Victory Brake fluid because of some sort of additive to do with the link brakes?? |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I've been using nothing but Motul 5.1 full synthetic brake fluid for many years with great performance. If you actually take the time to read the specs on different fluids you won't find a fluid with better numbers-good stuff & less than $10 a bottle.

I've been using nothing but Motul 5.1 full synthetic brake fluid for many years with great performance. If you actually take the time to read the specs on different fluids you won't find a fluid with better numbers-good stuff & less than $10 a bottle.

I recall a post somewhere (either on this board or another) whereas someone claimed to have used DOT 5 brake fluid; and it locked up their Vision's brakes since the rubber components within the calipers and master cylinders had swelled out of shape.

Mechanicsville, VA United States | DOT 5 is silicone based and it does not mix with DOT 3 AND 4, Motul 5.1 is DOT 4 100% Synthetic and it is not Silicone based so it will work perfectly with our bikes! |

Central Illinois | DOT 4 is DOT4. Be careful about how big a container you buy. Get not much more than you think you will use. Every time I have read any vehicle manufacturer's instructions it has always said to use a fresh unopened container of brake fluid. Basically you get to throw out any unused fluid because next time you will need to buy fresh again. The stuff is hygroscopic so that is why they tell you to use a previously unopened container. |

Motul: 522 F dry boiling point (clean-new) & 365 F wet boiling point (1 year old-used).
Castrol Responce Super DOT 4: 286 F dry boiling point & 184 F wet boiling point.
If you get into a situation where your heating up your brakes, like going down a mountain pass, I like to know I'm not going to boil the fluid and have my brakes go out on me. Read the labels and make your choice-Brian |

| You can go to any auto parts store any buy test strips for $3.95 that will tell you if your fluid needs changing.
Brake fluid is only good for 4 to 5 years |

| If you want the best forget the rest. Amsoil DOT 4 can't be beat! New boiling point 580*F Wet boiling point 410* F It also has a lower PH than the rest.
