There have been a few occasions where I have put the tipovers to the test. Each and every time they performed as advertised. I did have one instance where I was parallel on an incline. The tipovers slowed the bike down but ended up resting on the mirror fairing.

Same thing happened to me, on a steep incline.... tipovers slowed it, but then gravity took over and it went all the way over. The top of the bike was actually slightly below the bottom. Was a bear to get upright!

after 40 years of riding, laid it down yesterday, first time ever. some knucklehead in a parking lot came around the corner, fast, right at me. I was embarrassed for dropping the bike and embarrassed that I didn't anticipate him better. Slow motion lay-down, just couldn't hold it up. But, I was able to stand it up with afore-mentioned dead-lift technique, and as far as I can tell, zero damage anywhere except to my pride.

I dropped mine on the tip points one week ago. First time I ever dropped a bike. Was almost stopped and there was huge hole in front of me tried to stop and turn and the same time. No damage didn't even scrape the paint on tip points.

Just a heads up. I was at my dealer the other day, and he plugged into the computer port of the bike for diagnostics, and it reported that the tip over sensor has been tripped. He asked me if i had ever dumped my bike, i had lost it on a slow speed turn on sand last summer, and it told him that. i have also laid it down to work on it, so not sure if they are one and the same - i.e. if it only registers if it tips when riding and you have to wait the 10 seconds to restart it.

Just sharing....

My guess would be that it reports a tip over event only if the bike has the ignition on at the time. I lay mine on the right side tipovers any time I want to work on the left side, it is just so convenient. If it starts reporting those as events I will need to protest their data.
