Better view of Chieftan: http://youtu.be/4XheeEX00t4

The easy on and off luggage rack / sissybar mounting points could also easily accomidate a tourpak.........

CHIEF_RIDERS.COM or RIDE_THEM_INDIANS.COM

Just a suggestion ...

Thunder-Strokers.com

Hmmm..could go either way.

This is what Indian has needed all along. All new from the ground up. Not a S&S motor in a softtail frame with Indian fenders and speedo. Although, if you watch the power stroke 111 video, the bottom end clearly looks like a Victory bottom end adapted for pushrods. If they can keep prices down they may have a winner.

I too see Polaris all in the new Indian. When I saw the engine at Daytona there was a cutaway view engine and the first remark I said was " Man that looks like Victory casting and machine work " Well duh, of course it does. I also see Victory in the wheels, brakes, exhaust and on the Chieftain the power windshield looks alot like our Visions, but what would you expect ?? Polaris owns both brands and probably uses alot of the same vendors with different specs of course. Hell I'm not complaining just saying. I think Polaris did a magnificent job in developement and keeping a secret till I saw that post about 3 models on the VOG yesterday. I'm really thinking about buying a Chieftan, but I do want a couple of test rides first and wait for the "I gotta have the first one in town hooplah" to die down a bit.

Ok, I have questions....

Is the left side gas cap a dummy cap?

What is that oval deal above the Chieftan headlight?  (Closeup at 1:27 on the Chieftan video.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XheeEX00t4&feature=youtu.be

When does the front fender LED War Bonnet light up?  With the headlight or with the running lights?  Are they all on all the time?

First serious attempt at reviving Indian. Not complaining about the vic bottom end. Just indicates dependabilty should be high. This is what someone should have built 15 years ago. Definetly a winner

Not one dealer in Texas? You have got to be kidding. Nice bike the Chieftan..... But no dealer support is the death of some really good ideas of the past. My Vic dealer here said they were approached by Indain but told that they had to open a separate store to get Indian. They said no thanks. Guess all the other Vic dealers in Texas said the same. I don't get it.

Would be cool to have gas caps on both sides operational. Then you fill from which ever side the pump is on!

Now that the bikes are out in view I bet there will be more dealers that will comes to terms with Indian and start selling the product. I've heard of two now in rather small towns in S.C. That means that dealers in large metro area such as Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, L.A. ect will too..........

I bet in the next few months you'll see some open up. I'm guessing that a lot of potential dealers were afraid to pull the financial commitment trigger until they saw the new Chief. My guess is there will be a bunch of dealers calling Polaris this week to jump on the Indian bandwagon.

Time to buy Polaris stock, the chieftain is what I wanted to turn my TC In to before I sold it and got the vision, I think I will wait two years before i buy one, I also this we will see victory/ Indian stand alone dealers right next to HD dealers. I see Indian taking away some from the cross bikes, but the vision will stay as the top of the line victory tour bike.

I wouldn't bet on it. I really do like the Chieftain as well. Based on Polaris dismal efforts in Texas (or at least DFW, I should say), I would be surprised to see any type of Indian dealership here. Not sure why, since we can ride comfortably 10 months of the year and with a little effort, the other 2, and decent disposable income ratios here, why wouldn't you push your mortorcycle line here. I dunno.

Also, I didin't see any tipovers on the Chieftain. I guess my Vision has spoiled me on that, and saved me plenty of heartache, and money on repairs.

When I saw the Chieftan this weekend, I thought about a conversation I had with a Victory engineer a couple of years ago when the Cross bikes came out.  I said "Wow, if they put a power windshield on the Cross Country they'd absolutely corner the market."  He said "Well, there are a couple of things we are keeping exclusively for the Vision to make it our flagship and the power windshield is one of them."

Makes me wonder how much he knew about the Chieftan back then.

Interesting how a security system is offered right out of the gate, but Victory doesn't have one. Also great to see additional technology on the Chieftan that isn't on the Vision, example being the tire pressure system. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.

HOLY COW, BATMAN! That Chieftan is fabulous! Can't wait for Arlen to have a demo days. Need to sign off now--the drool is going to ruin my tablet.

I want all the electronic toys that the chieftain has on it. Keyless ignition, pin code, tpms, hit the key fob and all locks lock. All of that technology was available when the vision came out. Bummer! But I still love my first year, low mileage, low production number, collectible vision!

Well, like alot of us have said the Vision is due some upgrades. At least we know Polaris can do some new things when they feel the need to.
