Georgia, west of Atlanta | Good article: Hmmm maybe a Indian four in the future ?? Maybe a higher performance Victory too ?? Can you say watercooled ?? BMW, Moto Guzzi, maybe even Harley is leaning that way it seems........Should be interesting.
Was good to finally hear an overall number of "more than 100,000 units sold since 1998" Not bad, Not Harley numbers that's for sure but It's still 100,000. To put that in perspective that's more than Thor, Cyclone, Henderson, Curtiss, and Excellsior put together. |

The 100 and now 106 freedom engine has been a good one. However an upgrade would always be nice. A 114 or 116 could be made with just an overbore. But a tastefully done watercooled engine would be better for performance. Controlling heat is always a problem with "big twins". BMW is gonna watercool it long lived boxer twin, but just the heads. Supposedly the finning will still supply 1/2 the cooling capability. Moto Guzzi is gonna come out with a 1350cc watercooled continuation of their tarnsverse twin, this will allow induction from the top and the exhaust at the bottom of the cylinderhead. Before the exhaust was in the front to take advantage of the cooling airflow. Rumor says 135-140 HP. Yee haw. Watercooloing would let Victory produce a bigger engine and increase the compression to say 10.5 or 11:1. That would make more power down on bottom and provide a way to use a little more duration in the camshaft and have more power up top too.....Only time will tell
As of now I have no problems with my big aircooled "big twins" ( I have an '08 and '13 Vision ) but the future may bring us something different. Just sayin...

Jasper, MO | Several things he said make me wonder if Victory will be repositioned to compete with the Japanese and European brands, leaving Indian to take on Harley Davidson head-to-head. Competing with the Japanese and European brands does not exclude the V-Twin, but could include other engine configurations too. Victory would be the modern "performance" division and Indian would be the "heritage" division. He basically said as much. I think we will be seeing Victory motorcycles with more than two cylinders in the future, and formats other than cruisers added to the Victory lineup.

The Great Northwet | Interesting about the power train. Makes me glad I've got a new Vision...things are gonna change and I really like this bike...course it is my 4th Vic and second vision....no brand loyalty here!!! |

Georgia, west of Atlanta | Saw this in a article from Cycle News: This is the way BMW has already gone about water cooling. Probably what Moto Guzzi and Harley will do also. What do we have in common ?? They're all large displacement twins. Could Victory be next ?? Seems logical...........Would be very easy to hide the radiator(s) on the Vision. Not quite as easy on the Cross bikes............
