Ditch, The sun cover is just a bike cover that is basically a small sheet of cover material with 4 corner loops which snaps on and off in a few seconds but doesn't go low enough to melt on the engine. Keeps the summer sun off your sea t and makes a BIG difference. See here and look around ebay. Under $20 and folds up small.

And yes, if you have a gel pad or high density foam they will get HOT and carry a LOT of heat. It was 109 here Tuesday and a friend has a gel seat on his Wing and learned a real lesson in thermodynamics. I also carry a small sheepskin pad I cut from a seat cover I bought in a garage sale. Suede back holds well and really helps if I get delayed and didn't use the shade.

After 36 years of riding, one thing I've determined is that everyone is different.  For me, I experienced the exact opposite.  I rode a 2005 Goldwing for 3 years and 32,000 miles and never could get comfortable on that damned thing.  I had the seat custom built twice, backrest, different highway pegs, and bar risers and still couldn't get comfortable.  In fact, that is the SOLE reason I sold the Wing and bought the Vision; for comfort.  Other than the lack of comfort, I loved the Wing. Great engine, smooth, powerful and handled great, but again, for me I just could not get comfortable.  I always felt cramped on the wing and I'm a small guy at 5'7 and 170 pounds.

i've now owned the Vision for 3 years and have ridden cross country twice and I'm totally comfortable.

Best of luck to you and glad the Wing works better for you; I guess that's why they make different bikes.

Joel,
You then know exactly what was I talking about. I would have to do the same thing with the Vision you did with the wing. I rode the bike about 8000 miles and I decided I wasn't going to spend hundreds, if not thousands, to have a custom seat built and find out that it wouldn't work after all.
Your story is the same as mine except for swapping bike names. You're right, everyone IS different.

Good point. Among other things, I'm a trucker and a biker. I learned the hard way to get EVERYTHING out of my hip pockets when spending long hours in the saddle. It does make a big difference.

okie vision - 2013-07-11 11:16 AM lennyb - 2013-07-10 8:11 PM While I use a beaded seat cover, which I highly recommend, I'm with ya, Len. Bead Rider and Utopia backrest....=....long distance bliss

I'm with you both. I have the Bead Rider beads and the Utopia backrest and over 103,400 miles on the 2008 Vision. Just got back from a 5,000 mile trip and I am more comfortable on my Vision than any bike, car or truck I have had in my life! Now if I could just catch vayder.
