I didn't get the trunk lid closed all the way the other night and the light ran the battery down. Third time its happened. 3 times I couldn't ride on perfect days to ride. I usually leave the switch where it never comes on
but I had to use the light and forgot to put it back in the off position. That won't happen again for a long time
I hope. May have to take the long way home from work tomorrow to make up for it.

I'm always afraid that will happen. Like your idea to compensate for a lost riding day. The drive to work is always 27 miles but sometimes the ride home is 100

Just turn the battery light off.... turn it on ONLY when you need it.

Never used the stupid light once so I took the bulb out to avoid this problem. Simple solution.

I use the light everday , I leave for work at 3:30 a.m. every morning. I actually wish the side bags had a light.

Did this a month or so ago for the only time so far.
Put the battery tender on and good to go the next day.
It is really handy when you leave for work in the dark.

There was a guy that went to walmart and found stick on closet lights and put them on the high spot of the inner bags. Heck I bet you go to the store and you could find some led's you could wire up

It finally got me. Left the trunk light on and killed the battery. It was the original battery from 2008. That battery performed well for over 6 years. I was going to see how long I could go until it wouldn't crank over anymore. It was still cranking fine before the trunk light incident. I think I could have got close to 7 years out of that battery. Think I might remove the bulb so it doesn't happen again. I can use my phone's flashlight instead.

I had it happen once. Like a light from above I decided to plug the battery tender every time and it has never happened since.
