Finally got a decent distance trip done on the Vision. We left Prescott Valley on the 21st and camped the first night in Durango. We got a little rain outside of Flagstaff but aside from that little bit it was warm and dry until Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday AM we got up and headed up the Million $ Hiway and enjoyed little traffic and great sights on the way to Montrose where we headed east on US 50. Each and every gas stop was the same, someone either commented on the bike or wanted to know about it. That night we camped in Canon City just west of Pueblo. After rising Wednesday Am and buying a couple T-Shirts at Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza (the reason for this trip!) we hit Hiway 96 headed west towards home. Once we got back into the mountains the sights once again became well worth the trip, we stayed on 96 until we hit 69 and kept enjoying what we saw as we rode until we got back onto US 50 for a short time. Just west of Gunnison we took the Silver Thread (Hiway 149), this road ranks right up there in the top two or three rodes I have riden or driven. Even though we encountered a good bit of rain on this road we saw some beautiful sights and I have every intention to go back and reride this on a clear day!!! It was GREAT!!!! We spent night 3 in South Fork (in a hotel as we were tired of all the rain), from there we picked up US 160 and followed it to Durango again. When we stopped for gas in Durango I got SUPER Lucky and got premium gas for $3.39 a gallon!!!!!! My riding partner put unleaded regular in his 89 Wing and payed over $4.00!!! From Durango it was back up US 550 again to Ridgeway where we picked up Hiway 62 to Hiway 145 and rode south through Teluride, again a bit more rain but not near as bad as Wednesday. We stayed our last night in Cortez before getting up Friday AM for the final leg of the trip.

The Vision rode like nothing I have ever ridden before, all day comfort is an understatement!!!!!! I know for a fact that I could not have done a trip like this on my 05 Nomad, I loved that bike but it has nothing on the Vision. Our longest day in the saddle was a little more than 7.5 hours and when we stopped for the day I had another couple hours left in the old butt. I am truely pleased with my decision to purchase this machine and look forward to many more trips to see more Colorado, Utah, and even more of Arizona. The computer said I got 51.3 MPG on the trip but after totaling up all the gas reciepts it was really 49.29MPG which still ain't too shabby. I would Strongly recommend that if you own a Vision and have not yet gone out for a long ride you need to get started on planning one ASAP!!!! You too will come home IMPRESSED!!!!!! WHAT A RIDE!!!

Hey Rick!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the time in our fair state, and really glad to hear it was all done safely! You were on some of the finest roads Colorado has to offer, but there are more that are somewhat similar to the miles you covered. I'm off on my own adventure in a couple of days, but I was sure hoping your trip to and through Colorado was safe and enjoyable!!

Thanks Rick for yet another confirmation. I went to Orlando a month after owning the bike and made the trip with ease. I owned a GL1200 prior to that and had a leather seat. I "Iron Butted" to Texas, 1000+ in 19hrs and 1500 with in 36 and though easy for me, the Vision will be a peace of cake when I make the next trip.

Have a GREAT Ride!! I will undoubtably be returning to your fine state in the not too distant future. We had a great time riding the roads that we did ride and intend to see more as soon as I can get some more time off.

I cannot say enough good things about the Vision, it truely is a fantastic ride and made this trip really enjoyable. The only glitch was on day two when the cruise control decided not to play for a couple hours, but then it worked fine the remainder of the trip.

I've had that same problem with my cruise not long ago, 2 days in a row and hasn't happened since. it's at the dealer with that being one of the things they are checking for me, but since it's not acting up right now I doubt they will find anything, if they do I will let you know.

The ride is exceptional isn't it, in June I put 3500 miles on mine in 6 days. I left the gulf coast of Texas at 10:30 on a Saturday morning and got off her at 9:00 AM Sunday to pitch my tent in a state park in northern Missouri. I never would have attempted anything like that on anything else.

I have the same problem with my cruise control everytime I take a trip that is over an hour or two. I'll be cruising along and the CC will just shut off. Sometimes I can get it to come back on for a minute or so, but most the time after that all it will do is flash on for a second, then cut off again. It will go like that until I pull over, shut off the bike and restart. Sometimes this is a real pain in the ass.
