| I love my Handy Lift, but I'm not crazy about their front tire lock. it never really felt all that secure. I always strap the bike down, it's just that time between setting the bike in the tire holder and getting the straps on that has always bothered me.
Well, this is what happens when you aren't quite fast enough. And no... it's not sitting on the tip-overs.

| What a bummer! I have a Handy also but it has a vise for holding the front wheel. I ride it up, put it on the side stand and then tighten the vise and hook up the straps. I don't recognize that front chock. Did it come from Handy?

Yep, the one you linked to is the one that came with my lift. Its strong as hell. I don't know what the one that allowed his bike to fall is. Probably would be a good idea to get the right one.

Perry Hall, MD | That sucks - sorry guy. I have a similar wheel chock mounted to the garage floor. After finding the bike laying over (on the tip overs fortunately) one day I always put a pair of jack stands under the rear tip overs before I dismount. Might want to consider the same on the lift. |

Prairie City, IA United States | I had a table lift until 2 days ago.it wasn't a nice fancy one like your but one I made from a set of plans. I tipped one bike off of it but not as bad as you did. I gave it to a friend and bought a J&S jack. I am more comfortable and my wife is happy because it scared the crap out of her every time she watch me ride a bike onto it. Hopefully you only did minor damage. |

| I feel sad for you. Hoping it's not expensive. 900 lbs of bike doesn't give you much of a chance. At least you aren't under it.

Those types of stands can be plenty strong to hold up the Vision. The problem is that you have to adjust it correctly to be able to hold the weight by moving the tilting cradle back to the right place that the weight is pushing it into the front piece hard enough to not fall over. I say "problem" because when it's adjusted correctly it is a BEAR to pull the bike back out of it. I don't use my CONDOR stand with the Vision for that reason -- when it's setup correctly to hold a 900lb bike up, I'm not physically capable of pulling the bike back out by myself.
They're great stands, and they're capable of holding up a Vision, but they certainly aren't ideal for use with one. |

I'll set wooden blocks under each tire to steady it; if I anticipate pulling on anything that would upset the balance.

As for the mud flap, he has it secured to the HitchDoc receiver mount.
This is a very good flap for doing that. The holes line up perfectly and it's tough ply rubber. I have one mounted on my Hitch Doc.

Sorry to hear about the ankle, hope are are able to take off the big boot and put on the bike boot real soon.
You are correct, it's just a hunk of rubber mounted to my Hitch-Doc. Turned out to work pretty good.
I wish I had seen the flap you mentioned, I wound-up purchasing a twelve inch square of 1/4" rubber and making my own. When I was looking for a flap, all it could find either had HD on them or some bling that I wasn't going to be willing to clean.

New Bohemia, VA | While I was trying to throw humor in a bad sitiuation, I had a sinking feeling just seeing the picture the first time. Things are, what they are and we learn from them. I'm just glad you were not under the bike when it fell, that would have been tragic. If the bike is that unstable when trying to put it on the lift, I would have to find some other method of securing it before dismounting. They make a clamp type wheel chock that might be ideal for this, but I wouldn't take the chance for this to happen again. |

| Thanks to all, and thanks to a higher power that I wasn't under it. When I talked to Handy Industries, they said that the Vice type front wheel chock takes two people because it has to be tightened before getting off the bike.
I am working on a fool-proof way to assure that this will never happen again. I will post pictures in the next few days of the fix.
Meanwhile, you may want to view the 36 second tear down and rebuild of the front end of my Vision. It's not going to be very informative, but it's kind of funny to watch.
