I think I got a hole in one, if not both of my mufflers, sounding pretty good. It may take me awhile to replace them...

I have used that upgrade on a 1965 BMW and a 1981 Honda. Right now I don't have it yet on my Vision but it is only a year old. Someday I may have that same upgrade.

what was your '81 Honda? I had a CB750 Custom that I miss riding. Great bike and it would tear up the highway. The only thing I didn't like is fooling with the chain...

My Honda was/is a CX-500-C with a Vetter IV fairing on it. It is in my garage waiting for me to have time to resurrect it. It still looks like new.

I bought my '81 new in 1984 new from the box and rode that for about 3 years. After my first real winter I put a used Vetter fairing on it from a wreck yammy. The shop that sold it to me thought it was wrecked also and quoted me a price of $50. When it came in, however, it was in really good shape and only needed a new lense cover and I needed the honda mounting bracket. That changed my mind on riding with farings and vowed to go with full-farings there on out. I used to ride with my feet on the faring with the throttle lock on and my arms on across my knees smoking a cigerette (quit in 1993) on those lone I-95 stretches in NC. Sometimes, though, I'd like to let the wind eat me again...

Chris, I have a set of stock mufflers I removed a couple years ago. I haven't looked at them in quite a while, but they are yours if want them.

Wow, thanks for the offer, Bill!!! Did you ever get the bolt out of your triple tree? We need to talk soon about an unrelated topic.

Bill's offer, simply fantastic, but Bill probably wants his pipes on your bike when it ends up in a museum....he'll probably secretly stamp his name on them!

Actually I ended up having to remove the handlebars, cutting the bolt off and then slipping the upper trees off the forks and replacing the trees with a new one. This was actually the easiest and quickest way to fix the stripped out pinch bolt, and the new trees weren't that expensive.

given the close quarters that sounds about right, aggrevation = expense in my book too. Glad it worked out for you. I've got a friend's funeral Saturday morning, I may take a ride in the late afternoon/evening, you open?
