Stoughton, WI | Was riding to night, low battery light came on followed by check engine light, followed by ABS light followed by me pushing my VV into the nearest farm yard with absolutely no power in the battery. With all the lights coming on yours truly forgot to look at the volt meter. This all took place in about a 3 mile stretch of road, i'm assuming my battery went bad. Anyone have and ideas. MUCH APPRECIATED |

Central Maryland | Quite possibly it did. That's a pretty catastrophic failure of a battery though; for the symptoms that you described. How old is the battery? |

Pittsburgh, PA | might sound weird... but seriously, check your battery terminals.. 10mm wrench and Make Sure they are tight... i have had loose battery terminals cause the weirdest problems!! |

Lum, MI United States | Last night the wife and I got ready for a ride I jumped on the VV and she got on her 08 King pin and nothing dead to the point of acting like I had taken the battery out. It is the factory battery that it came with the bike. My point is that it was on a battery maintainer all winter and this spring fired right up for the first two rides we did. then after sitting for just two week it went completly dead with Zero volts reading on my meter. I tried to charge it and it wont even take a charge. Some times batters can short accross the plates in the bottom without warning. Make sure you check all the connections as mentioned and ensure the bike is producing good voltage also. good luck. |

| Put a 1/4" lock washer on each battery bolt and they will not come loose |

Albuquerque NM | +1 on checking the cables, but I have been disappointed with the batteries on our bikes. I think they are just too small for all of the electrical demands of the bike, of course the battery shouldn't be keeping anything operating while riding. But I suspect that the battery is easily overloaded with all of the demands of our bikes resulting in instant failure.
I have yet to hear of one of these bikes being slow to start and actually warn her rider that the battery was going, just one day good and the next not so much.
BTW VIKVISE, it sounds like it shorted internally which is why it stalled. The charging system couldn't keep up. |

Monrovia, Ca | Don't be disappointment with a battery. Most all of them only offer a 6 month warranty. Shit happens. Best thing you can do is keep it on a battery tender |

I took the battery out and charged it, put it back in and connected the cables and the black finned box on the bottom of the engine block started smoking, so off it went to the stealer. I followed this sight for a year or better before I bought my VV, I saw very few electrical issues posted which gave me some comfort before buying my VV. I struggle knowing we can put a man on the moon and bring him back safely but are engineers cant design a electrical charging system for a motorcycle to last more than 12000 miles. I had a 1990 goldwing with 90000 miles on it and it never left me stranded in a farm yard, are the japanese engineers and quality control specialist that much better than we are?? Very disappointed with this made in the USA product. |

Stoughton, WI | BTW the cost of a new YUSA battery from the dealer was $179.00. Batterys Plus offered the same size battery with a 2 year warranty for $129.00. |

Montreal, QC Canada | I have 57,000 miles on my 08 and still have the original battery. I've killed the battery twice by leaving the lights on. A quick charge with the tender and away I go. I agree with the loose terminals, happened to me once. |

So the rectifier gave up the ghost? That's a first that I've heard on the Vision. Hopefully that's the last gremlin you will find.
Anything man made, will eventually break or wear out. |

I will keep you posted on how long it lasts, I just installed one in the wife's king pin last night. The same battery fits or VV also. |

I think if you push the matter and do your research, you'll find that Walmart battery only has a 90 day warranty and only has 270 CCA instead of the 310 CCA and one year warranty of the OEM Yuasa.

Stoughton, WI | Stealer called today, said they found a bad regulator. They checked the rest of the electrical system and all is good. The fix will cost $370.00, I believe the regulator is about $180.00 the rest is labor and shop fees... They do not have a regulator in stock so I will miss out on several great days of riding weather. |

Stoughton, WI | LA - I own my own business, I install and service water well pump systems. I mark up a $.78 cent o-ring to $3.50 and my customers roll there eyes, believe me I know what it takes to stay in business here in the midwest. There are 15 Ford dealers with in 45 miles of my house and 3 Victory dealers with in 120 miles. The lack of competition makes for a easy opportunity to gouge and that is the reputation this STEALER has. For example, I installed a Loyds timing gear on my Vision, it came with a reusable timing cover gasket at a cost of $20.00. I called the stealer before I started the install to check if they had a gasket just in case things went bad, the cost was $50.00 for a gasket and they did not have one in stock, that is STEALING and that is why they have the bad rep.
OBTW, No one held a gun to my head when I bought my Vision, I'm a vet and I bought my Vision from a retired vet who had health problems and he advertised it on this site. |

I Also never heard of a regulater going out on a vision. Guess that's why they don't stock it. The regulator on my 2011 failed within the first 1500 miles stranding me in Tuscon. I had to pay the local dealer an extra labor charge to get him to take it off of a new bike but at least I didn't have to wait for one to get shipped from Vic. Never had a problem since then.

Stoughton, WI | Service up-date - I called the dealer today to get a up date on my regulator repair. I was told the regulator should be delivered this Friday from Polaris, I told them had I known it was going to take 5 days to get a regulator from Minnesota to Wisconsin I would have drove to Randy Cycle in Marengo Il. about 90 miles away on Monday and bought the one they had in stock and delivered it to them. The parts rep. said he would check the UPS tracking date and call me back. He called me back 1 hr later, said Polaris dropped the ball on getting the part shipped out and that they were now going to over night one and they would have it tomorrow. This is another example why they have the bad rep. |
