Install was straight forward except for the spring clips.
I changed the rolled style to a conventional external clip. Made

Georgia On My Mind.... United States | I also just installed a set. My wife really likes them.
Mine will not lock in the up position very tightly. Seems the tolerance is a bit loose and the spring/ball doesn't have enough pressure.
Hit a bump and they fall down. |

North Billerica, MA | I noticed the same problem, it seems the spring ought to be a bit longer to fit the aluminum billet hole.
Mine is looser than before the mod but so far they do stay up. If they start dropping down from vibrations I'll probably try to fit a spacer in the bottom of the hole to lift the spring up a bit. |

Perry Hall, MD | Don't put a lot of effort into getting them to stay up. Many of us have learned that keeping them down really helps prevent accidentally catching your foot under the rear tip over. You can find a number of post on here recommending this.

North Billerica, MA | When I went over a large bump, the left side flopped down. That will not do.
I wound up placing a 1/16" rubber washer at the bottom of the billet hole, then the spring, then the steel ball.
It lifted the ball up just enough to make it tight. I first tried two washers but it locked the footrest in the up position! Very close tolerances.
It feels like stock now. |
