Yes, I am! It could have been much worse without them because I would have been under the bike when it happened. Now I'm in pursuit of a kick stand. Anyone got one they want to part with, cheap?

I'll need to look and see if the kick stand is on the on the 08 problem list cause mine broke also. It seem that there is either too much lean engineered into the stand magnifying the stress at that point on the stand or the part is under engineered part. I wonder how many others experienced this failure?

Yes, this is one of the things that I am wary about, on my Vision. The whole kickstand solution for the Vision seems ill-engineered; especially the ever widening hole where the kickstand's bolt goes through; in the lower frame. There should be some sort of bushing in there; but there's not.

My lean angle on my Vision seems to become more pronounced, as the years go by. And I am very gentle with it; when resting it on the kickstand.

I'm thinking this through, this is NOT a fresh break, snap and it is done. This has been broken for a while. What did it in was the bolt breaking. Given the engineering, it has done well. Kicks are not made to take a lot of weight, so standing on sideboards to mount or dismount is not good. I think what did it for mine is my wife sits on the bike when I get off, and then it is at rest on the kick. She then dismounts bearing more weight on it. I usually give it some support but there has been times I have not. I think it has held up well, considering.

Possibly a good PM for this is to update / replace the bolt around 100k or 5 years ?

It looks like form the pic it had been fractured for a while The later style atnds have a bit different foot that make it easier to get a hold of when you need o put the stand down..

Chris I am sure you can ebay for one out there

Considering how I park my bike in my garage a kickstand failure would be a disaster.
My last Vision I traded in had a Ness 21" front. It was an extreme lean. One of the things I didn't like about the big wheel. Parked on the side of a road that wasn't flat proved a workout to stand the bike up sometimes. I used a block on wood in the garage to keep the fairing off the wall.

I carry a 2 x 4 block of wood everywhere I go. My bike leans too far also! I know it has to be bent. I learned from this forum that our stands are bending. My wife also is the last one off but like Chris, I apply force to the bars to minimize extra stress on the stand as she dismounts. If I had the money , I would lower mine 2 inches and keep the stock stand (it would still lean adequately.)

He Varyder, is the lower frame's hole elongated; that the kickstand bolt goes through?

Holy Crap! Sidestand for a 2008 is $186.99 list price. Yikes.
Only 91.99 for 2011 and up.
08, 09, and 10 are different part numbers and prices vary a couple of bucks.

Replacement parts always "blow" for the Vison... as well as other less distributed motorcycles.

Varyder needs to find a welder; a case of beer should get that thing repaired (even stronger than OEM) when it's finished.

All that is involved is a new piece of steel; grind down; with a hole drilled in it; and then adequately welded back to it.

Then a nice coat of primer and paint.

If he took that in to a good welder, it's a piece of cake. He could do it while eating his lunch

I could do that, and I might do that will. I have the part and good local welder. Perhaps that is the route I may take, just need to get it too them, they're open when I'm out work and closed when I'm working. I think I'll be late Monday morning to work. Thanks.

I can't tell from the pic that you posted; was that the inside or outside portion that broke off?

If the outside...

Make sure they weld a slight gusset as well; to the outside bend of the point; where the kickstand bolts to the frame. Then send a picture of it to Ma Vic; to show them how to manufacture a strong kickstand.

Still am interested in any elongated wear of the hole in your frame; where the kickstand's bolt runs through....

On welding the stand. It will hold the parts together but the stand is cast. I welded mine when it broke but it bent at the weld. After I replaced mine with a chrome one(under $100.00) it started to lean more in a couple of months . Lost the nut. Replaced it and locktited it.

That's heartening to see Varyder. Sure seems to be a lot of play in my kickstand; at the point where it attached to the frame.

Thanks for posting the pictures.
