Seat starting coming apart in 2010. Used seam sealer / black duct tape. still kept tearing . Found someone to recover
seat. She said she could recover just the front half for $ 70 . I said why not.
she if the original seam was lowered about a 1/2 inch the stress would be more on the vinyl. We will how long this last.

Looks great!
Mine is coming apart at the seam as well. I am waiting until the weather gets bad here before I try to get it fixed, then I wont feel so bad driving my truck to work. I haven't found anybody that would do just the front half.
$70.00 is a fair price.

I was told the same thing about covering the whole seat by others. Within 10 seconds she no problem with the front half. She has been covering seats for 25 years. She does a lot of seats for the local HD dealer.

Has anyone recovered their seats with leather?
Mine is coming apart as well, and I have a good upholstery guy who'll do it cheap (I buy the material). I'm leaning towards a quality leather instead of vinyl, mostly as a "why not". I know that leather will require maintenance than vinyl does, but does anyone have the pros and cons? What are your thoughts?

it's reported that leather breaths so you don't sweat as bad and therefore less fatigue.

My '09 has a tear in the seam as well, and am thinking of going to leather.
If you decide to get it done let us know how the leather works for you.

in 2011 I had my 08 seat recovered in a gray leather at a leather shop. It cost me about $300.00. It was well worth the money and being gray it matches the silver trim and it is not hot to sit on when in hot weather.

I have my seat done in leather. It looks nicer. It is black so it will be hot if you leave it in the sun.
I put leather conditioner with a UV protector on it about once a week or so, and use Bailey's black leather treatment on it a couple times a year. I can't really say you don't sweat as much. If it is hot I sweat.
I have been using the LDC underwear and they do make a big difference.
Leather is more of a personal choice, it should last longer if taken care of.
Hope this helps

Hey Bob,

Tear in the seat huh. Sounds like your spending a little to much time in the saddle. (As if anyone can never spend too much time in the saddle on a Vision) Let us know if you have your seat done in leather. May do mine down the road if the price is right.

Will do. Trying to talk the wife into it, but super busy right now, so maybe a Christmas project. Will let you know.
And as you know, there is no such thing as too much time in the saddle!

Yea, but will that fix last another 160,000 miles - I don't think so!
