Troy, NY | I will be doing a long bike ride out west next year. By the time the trip happens I'll have about 45k on my bike. So I was planning to have maintenece done on the bike before the trip, e.g. tires, brakes...ect. Normal stuff but wondering what people where getting for life on their headlights. I know there will be different circumstances that people had to replace. I just want a general idea to determine if I replace the headlight before the long trip. |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | I think I had one burn out at about 39k miles. If you decide to replace, do them both at the same time. If you do it yourself, save yourself some headache by going to this thread

Mechanicsville, VA United States | As you know light blubs can blow at any time but like victoryvisiontour has said "replace both" as they have the same amount of burn time on them and nothing in the blub department last forever. I did mine before they blew on me, I did them at 25,000 and it was a pain to do but since I had it so far apart I did some deep cleaning and added some LED lights to my turn signals. Good luck and since it's to cold to ride take your time. |

Jasper, MO | When you do decide to replace them, just use regular bulbs, BUT make sure they are the ones rated for heavy duty and vibration. They will say heavy duty or long-life or such. They have heavier duty construction, meant for trucks and such. Regular car replacement bulbs won't last long. I found out the hard way.

Central Illinois | Ordinary headlights are remarkably long lived these days. I have 115k miles on my Honda Civic, yes its a cage, and the headlights are still the OEM ones. I will start worrying about my headlights when I get to similar miles, not at 45k. |

| 1 original stock still working at 89000 miles. Replaces one around 77000 miles. Only HB burned out on the first. |

| I replace both mine from auto parts store. I asked for long life bulbs that was 3 years ago. Still working |

Davenport, IA | I have 36k on my 09 and have replaced them twice. First time around 10k, then second time about 22k. I think it was mainly because I rode using high beams all the time, but now ride daytime using low beams, which are lasting much longer. And yes, make sure you replace both at same time. |

Central Maryland | ...and make sure you do not touch the bulbs with your bare fingers either. The oils on your fingers will create a hotspot on the bulb; greatly shortening it's life. |
