Buford, GA United States | Well I traded in my 2008 with 80,000 miles on it for a new 2014. Nothing at all wrong with my 08 but the dealer made me a good deal and I pulled the trigger. |

Buford, GA United States | I have only been able to put 80 miles on the new one but here are my thoughts:
1. I need to get cams as the 08 had been Kevin X'd and it would roll. The 14 has power but just not what I am used to.
2. The gears are really quiet and not clunky like the 08. Never had a problem on the 08 but they really clunked when you changed gears.
3. Much easier to find neutral on the 14
4. I need the upgraded Ipod connector as the factory one is not adequate. Speakers seem a little better.
5. The 14 does not rattle like the 08. Never could get the trunk on the 08 not to rattle.
If anything else comes to mind I will let you know. |

Buford, GA United States | I never really had any major problems with the 08 other than just typical maintaince issues. It was just a great motorcycle from day one.
The brakes and the whole new bike just feels smoother and my wrench at the dealership said the same thing. I am going to get to put some miles on it this weekend as the weather in the Atlanta area is supposed to be in the 60's! Looking forward to breaking it in. |

Buford, GA United States | The 2014 does have a new feature that I do not like. When you pull in the clutch you do not know what gear it is in as the display goes blank. So now I am having to pay attention and use my big brain to keep track of the gear. I had gotten use to not having to use by big brain so much. |

| My 2012 doesnt show the gear position with the clutch in. I thought they were all that way though. |

Taylorsville, KY | I wouldn't expect any bike to since they calculate mph to rpm to display the gear. You can slip the clutch and apply throttle and get erroneous gear displays if you want to verify this. |

You may be correct in saying that the new bikes use rpm and speed to determinec gear selection. Reving an 08 or 09 just moves the tach needle. Older design similar to Suzuki's from 1972 to present. I like the old one better. |

That's correct. The older Visions have a sensor on the shift drum and will show the gear with the clutch pulled in. Then they went to the computer using the tach and speed sensors to "calculate" the gear selection, which it can't do with the clutch pulled in. That is one of the "improvements" on the newer Visions I do not like.

Buford, GA United States | Hey Varyder, Unlike you I don't do any work on my Vision so if something goes wrong I have to get it fixed at the dealer. Just playing the odds with a 2008 bike with 80,000 miles on it seemed the wrong thing for me to do. My dealer had a 2014 that he had marked down by $2,000 and he was willing to take mine in trade since they had all the maintaince records on it except for the Kevinx Cams. |
