When idling, voltage reads normal.
When I start to accelerate, it spikes to 18!
Engine and battery light comes on.
It stays spiked until I come to a stop and returns to normal.
Thanks for any input.
Planning on taking to shop tomorrow since they are closed today:-(
Just hoping to get an idea of what to expect or if there is something I can do on my own.

Sounds like your regulator-rectifier has gone tit's up. Or it has a bad ground. Here's some troubleshooting you can do:

Thank you sir. Kind of what I figured.
I think I will leave the testing and replacing to the experts.

Same on my 2010. Rectifier gave out at 48k miles. would go up in the 20s on the freeway, back to 13 at idle. Had limp home as slow as I could in the highest gear I could. Extended warranty covered it.

Had the same problem. Just some corrosion at the battery terminals. The battery Tender leads had been installed between the cable and battery lug. The tender lead terminals are a smaller O.D. than the cables allowing a gap for some corrosion to start.

hope your not riding it. If regulator is bad and you ride it you'll take out stator which means more money out of your pocket.

Mine did the same thing. It's the regulator. You can you tube on how to check the regulator and stator. You just need a multi meter.
