Tom, I just watched the Concorde special on Smithsonian TV late yesterday. What a magnificent machine.

Hey John,

I've always thought the Concorde was over the top on so many levels.  Besides the obvious looks and performance, it would shock you to know that the 20 most senior pilots at British Airways flew it but were the least paid because it flew only three hours at a time and had very limited destinations.  (When they left London for New York, they got there two hours prior to when they departed London.  They never got jet lag.)  The flight crews were by far the most tight knit in the industry and the passengers were regulars who dressed and acted with a respect due that kind of flight.  Going back to a "regular" airline job was a humongous step backwards (even though a lot more pay) for all of those guys/gals.

Ask a Concorde aircrew or passenger what the coolest airplane they ever flew on was.  The response will be instantaneous.  Ask a Vision Pilot or passenger what the coolest bike they ever rode on was.  Same thing.  The Concorde & Vision have so many parallels.  Most people will only watch from the sidelines but never experience it for themselves for whatever reason.

Even though the Concorde is gone, the British Airways callsign still remains because of it:  "Speedbird".

I still think this was cool. As I was riding alone across the desert approaching the Four Corners I look in the rear view and I see a Vision. It was Tex coming from Nebraska with his BMW friend on the way to the N. Rim, I to the S. Rim and then off to Barstow.

Varyder,

Your comment in the other thread about meeting up with Tex at Four Corners is what prompted the double comet poster.  Glad you got a pic!

For those of you who have never been to Four Corners, you can't believe how "middle of nowhere" it is.  That was a cool rendezvous.
