I'm going to replace the rubber pad on my side stand soon. The original one has a tear in it.Don't
know how I got it. Anyway, I received my replacement pad. Looking at it,it looks like,if you
can find a small bolt the length of the replacement rivet, which is about 1/2 inch in length, that might be another way to go. Finding a bolt and locknut, would make replacing easier. As long as
the nut doesn't protrude beyond the pad on the bottom of the stand.

These things seem to be getting replaced pretty fast. I think mine is still okay,
but I might need an education as to why I have never had a motorcycle with
an athletic shoe on the kick stand? I don't think I'll replace mine when the time
comes. Any problem with that?

I had to replace mine. I had the dealer do it and it took them a half hour. The rivets are a pain in the butt but I think it will be hard to find a bolt with a thin enough head to work right.

There are a couple of reasons for the rubber on the side-stand. (1) The rubber helps grab and kick the side-stand up if you forget to put it up when taking off. (2) The rubber provides better stability and helps prevent side-stand slipping when supporting the bike and the rubber also keeps the side-stand from marking up your garage floor.

If you use the side-stand on gravel and other real rough surfaces it will wear it out faster as well as turning the front tire while the bike is on the side-stand as this will move the side-stand while the weight of the bike is on it. Oh yes forgetting to put the side-stand up before taking off will also wear the rubber boot quickly.

My sidestand booty only lasted about 2 weeks, I left it till I took in for fall service and all the little waranty items to be taken care of. My dealer replaced it under warranty, see if this one last longer.

My first one wore out and was replaced at about 1500 miles. After the second one wore out (around 3500 miles) I just took it off altogether.
