My stock seat ripped along the stitching and I had it repaired once which looked good but it only lasted 2000 miles before busting apart again.

I feel it's a bad design being stitched in the location it is as the rider's weight is really pulling on the stitched areas. I was hoping someone has had theirs repaired by an upholster in a way that has relaxed the stress on the stitching and is holding up. Just looking some ideas before taking it in for a recover.

You can pick up a new seat cover with the material of you choice on eBay for $180 you just have to peel the old one off & staple the new one in place.

if you want the back rest cover to match add $70.

had the same problem with my seat at around 50,000 miles. Took the seat to a leather shop and put a light gray leather on. Now at 110,000 the seat is still doing great

How do you like the leather seat cover? What maintenance needs to be done to it? My bike does spend some nights uncovered and gets rained on when taking trips so I have been hesitant about going with leather for those reasons but if it'll hold up better and isn't too much up keep I'd consider recovering with leather.

leather is a great sponge for soaking up water
Why not find a street rod upholstery shop in your town and see what they say

I totally recovered mine with marine grade vinyl that looked like leather. While I had it apart I added a seat heater to the drivers back rest, and passenger back rest. I added back massagers into the back rest and the center of both seats. Great on very long rides. warm and massagie..

Its held up great in total rain pours. dries quick and I had the seat embroidered.
