Sorry for not being up to speed on this, but I've only had my V for a little over a month and I'm still in the learning process. I have my stock pipes on now, but have installed the factory high flow air cleaner. Is remapping required for this mod?

if you increase air you Must increase fuel or you will risk damage to your engine. If ou purchase a stage 1 or stage 2 it will come with the air filter you just purchased..

if you increase air you Must increase fuel or you will risk damage to your engine. If ou purchase a stage 1 or stage 2 it will come with the air filter you just purchased..

i guess its best to ask a dealer cause i asked that same ?? about my vegas and was told no problem i wanted to put a reusage k/n filter and chrome air vent on, stock pipes, was told no remap was needed

If you just added a filter without any other mods you do NOT need to remap. Without also changing the exhaust; the injection can cope with the small percentage of change in flow

if you put a k&n air filter on a stock already lean mixture would you loose a little power since the bike is already lean from the factory and you increase more air. or can the close looped system adjust for the increase in air? i keep forgetting this is a close looped system

Yes. Well, yes to a certain extent. With stock, unmodified exhaust you will be fine.

the clossed loop is good for about a 5% variance, and the filter would not make a change anywhere near that. The bike will only draw as much air as it can use, and with a restricted exhaust you are not increacing demand by that much. Switching to a free flowing exhaust greatly changes the demand for air, and that is where you start running into mixture issues. Most often not mapping a bike with an open exhaust will give you a rich running bottom, and a lean top when looked at with a moniter. With a restricte filter[stock] that condition is somewhat redducedd at the top do to it limiting the available air for the mixture, and subsequentlly making it richer
