2 questions here...I don't normally like hearing a radio playing on a motorcycle going down the road BUT....I've been in several stores the last few days that have XM radio that happens to be playing the right and proper classic rock that this 60's rocker grew up with. Having never paid much attention to XM radio I'm curious how it works...do you buy a subscription or something? Do you have to add an external antennae?

Also...the local Vic service manager is trying to talk me into getting one of Lloyd's adjustable timing wheels or whatever it's called. He keeps telling me it'll give me better gas mileage because I won't have to crank on it as much as I might do now when I pass at speed. I averaged 42 mpg pulling my camper on the ride from Michigan to Texas last October, (via The Original Oyster House in Alabama). I usually ran between 65 and 70 mph though there was the occasional 80 mph when traffic started moving that fast....so unless the timing wheel can give me an increase in mileage, I can't see spending the bucks on it.

The timing wheel is beneficial mostly below 2500 RPM and aids low end torque. Use of one may sometimes require using a higher octane gas to prevent pinging, since timing is advanced.

65 MPH is approximately 2500 RPM in 6th gear and 2900 RPM in 5th gear. Next question.

Victory offered a factory XM radio option for the Vision. It consists of the XM unit, connecting cable, and antenna. It is fully integrated into the Vision's audio system. Like all XM radio, it requires a monthly subscription, which is currently about $17 per month.

You can get aftermarket XM radios. They will not be integrated with the Vision's audio system like the factory job, but still require the monthly subscription fee.

Ok, thanks Ronnie. That subscription thing always stops me but it sure is nice hearing some of that music I grew up with sometimes...

While I use regular or middle gas occasionally, I normally use premium anyway, especially when I'm pulling the Taj. Most of the time when I pass on the interstate, I get a LOT of pinging on regular..not quite so much on mid-range but rarely hear any pinging, (while passing) with premium.

Y'know....I've been wondering about that myself. I bought my 2010 in 2013 with 13,000 miles on it. It has a Stage-1 set of mufflers on it, which the original owner said he had the dealer installed but I don't recall him saying whether or not he had a timing wheel installed. I may have to pull the cover myself just out of curiousity...after seeing the video, it doesn't look like much of a job.

Most dealers wouldn't know anything about a timing wheel. Odds are there is no timing wheel. If you decide to pull the cover, make sure you get new gasket otherwise you will drip oil.

Good point. I'm thinking about replacing the spark plug wires next time I do the plugs so I thought I'd order a gasket along with the new plug wires from Witchdoctors at the same time. I've got roughly 71,000 on the bike now and would normally do this at 100,000 but it's such an easy job and seeing how the bike's 7 years old, I thought I might just as well get'er done.

I have the xm radio complete set up, however I will share this. If you have the XM radio app on your phone and you plug into the AUX cable it will come out the speakers and works fine. as does Pandora etc.

I use xm all the time on my '09.
fwiw I bought mine used and was curious about the timing wheel. I pulled the cover to find that it does have it, set to +4 and no oil drips have resulted from the inspection.

The timing wheel did nothing for my MPG.....but it did add for a snappier throttle response.. I don't think the timing wheel is marketed for increased fuel economy but I could be wrong.. I thought the intention or purpose of the timing wheel was for performance
