I miss my back rest from my BMW LT. That back rest I could install to the bike and take off in two minutes. Open the panier, pull the seat release lever, open the hinged seat (location if battery, hydraulic suspension valve, etc.) and with two hex head bolts, I would install or take out the entire backrest.

I am assuming after looking at the Utopia back rest that once it is installed it would take some time to take it off...as in I want to go two up riding and get it out of the way!

Correct?

You can get a quick release pin for about $8 that will allow you to remove the Utopia at the level of the seat. There will still be a hard spot in the crotch area, but it doesn't stick up in the way.

Utopia offers a quick out option for the backrest.  I put one on my Vision and it works great.  The quick out option is not very well advertised on their site.  As a matter of fact I didn't even realize they had it until I was filling out the order page and I called them to make sure it was an option available for the Vision.  It allows you to pull the backrest out and slide it back in with no tools and nothing is left sticking up in the way when you pull it out.  Here is a link on their web site that shows it but it's not the best picture: http://www.utpr.com/moregoodies.html#qo

It adds to the cost but is worth every penny in my opinion.  If you have any questions about it or how to get it on your order just call them.  They are great people to work with.  I've had one on my Valkyrie for 9 years and it still works great.

No issues with the wiring, they have a photo on their website that shows this, the only issue installing it was getting the nerve to cut the seat, it was an easy install
