i went to NGK's website they dont list as having plugs for the vision... i didnt check yet but dont the vision use ngk. or it is something else.. i called my dealer yesterday to ask about plugs i didnt get to stop there yet. but he said "oh its the same plugs as our vtx1300's" is this true? i thought maybe with the vision having a radio that it MIGHT be a different plug? resistor?

ok i just checked. the vtx1300 DOES use the same sparkplug.. and im very shocked it is just a Normal sparkplug and not a Iridium sparkplug.. i dont even see that option for us.. My past motorcycles loves the Iridium spark plugs. i cant believe there isnt that option for our bikes...

NGK DCPR6E $2.89

Why would you want iridium plugs when the regular kind work perfectly well?

the reg plugs DONT work perfectly.. look at how Soon people are changing plugs on a NEW bike.. i never had to change plugs this soonn. my dealer even recommended changing the plugs at 7000 miles to help it "run better" my kaw had Iridiums and they lasted 30000 miles without a sputter! read about others on here who had to change their plugs with Less than 10k miles on their scooters. to me thats insane, but we have no choice. my point is not to get a better plug to "getmore power" cuase thats a bunch of B.S. its to have a longer lasting all together Better spark plug. Im little shocked this bike only has standard plugs

I would think with a little bit a home work you could find the I plug somewhere that would work. The Vision plug is a common plug and when I did a cross-reference search I found several matching plugs by other manufacturers. I ran a champion plug in it for awhile and then when I changed again I went back to the nkg's because the dealer actually started stocking them.

Found some of the xref:

NKG 3481 DCPR6E

Bosch Y6DC
Champion RA8GHC
Denso XU20EPR-U

If you find Iridium plugs to fit, by all means give them a try. However, the fact that they lasted longer or perhaps did not foul as much on your Kawasaki doesn't guarantee that that the same result will occur on the Vision. I tried them on My KP once, but since none were available in the same heat range I had to go one increment colder, so they fouled as much or more as the regular plugs. Since the Vision generally seems to run lean, my theory is that the plug fouling is occurring during the cold start/ run rich phase at startup, and unless a plug that is way too hot for normal running is used, a different type of plug with the same heat range isn't going to help.

Just as well. Precious metal plugs are a waste of money in properly running Vics 02, and later

I have wondered over the years about the fouled plugs. Haven't had it happen on my 3 Vics with over 100,000 miles. I wonder if some owners are doing what I have seen others do? They start their bike then put on their helmets and gloves and jacket. I get the feeling it's a habit they got into from riding carb bikes with chokes. You would do it so the bike was warm when you took off and you could kill the choke so your bikes wouldn't blue pipes or get crap gas mileage because we all have forgotten the choke was on.
Like Kevinx said, as long as the bike is properly turned I would not let it sit and idle. Like Lloyd said, I would not pound on a cold bike. This leads me to not need "fancy" plugs.

Oh you said, $2 a plug why did my local dealer charge me $32 the very last time they ever worked on one my bikes?

redrider, you know what...I do exactly what you said! i start my vision and 1-2 mins later i get on it to ride. (Only on a cold start). I did this and i also do Not hammer the bike until i see my oil temp dipstick showing that i am up to the normal Operating temps. I do this because of the article i read from Lloyd on engine damage and properly letting the engine get up to operating temps. I might be doing overkill, but after reading his article it scared me.. lol

also get this. i was shocked at how blackened my plugs were. i thought because of all the talks of how lean the maps are for the S1L1 and what not, that i expected the plugs to be white or very clean. i went on to one of thoses websites that shows you all the colors of the plugs and what that means. im not running to rich, but at the same time (according to the charts) im no way too lean. there is NO white or Tan anywhere on these Used plugs. "interesting"..

just bought a vision.
Was told by the dealer that there is a new Autolite plug that uses cryogenic technology to improve it.

I will be ordering a pair to see what happens

Arky, I've not pulled my plugs since I fixed my exhaust leak, but while I had it they were sooted as well as my tailpipes. Now the leak is fixed it seems to be truly running lean as my pipes are not sooted and the bike runs hot as the dickens in comparison. I expect to see mine to be white...
