I have a 3rd gen nano ipod which is constantly locking up on my vision. When took to dealer, he said that I needed to call apple to find out what program is in ipod so they would know how to adjust bike's program or something like that. Said they had called factory and this is what they were told. Feel like I was fed a line of bs so thought I could get some input from the high-tech wizards out there before I go back
thx

You got fed a line, you have a bad Ipod lead and/or the radio is bad. Mine did the same thing and after a few weeks fried my Ipod. They replaced the lead but I'll be darned if I'm hooking another to it. The radio has gotten really bad since and I'm still being run around. They'll be replacing the radio next week after their latest download fails to cure the radio issues or we are going to have a real big fight.

Have them check the wiring harness where it is over the seam of the left side fuel tank for any chafing.

My iPod worked fine for the first few months, then it started locking up the radio. When it did work, it was slow to change between songs or playlists. It finally started cutting in and out while riding to Myrtle Beach this year. Replaced the cable the iPod connects to and all worked well. I know that some of the problems, lke Teach's, seem to be in the radio. But I think the iPod cable is made in China and not very well, beacuse it seems like a lot of people have had this cable wear out with a little use, or brand new. That's the cheap fix, and I'd try that first, then move on to the radio. I've never had it fry an iPod thankfully.

gary,

I have been lucky with this issue. I also have a Gen 3 Nano. My radio has only locked up once that I can remember. The iPod has locked up three times but the reset procedure from apple fixed it. I am still on my first iPod cable and after 11,500 miles and 13 months it is still working.

This past weekend I finally got around to using 3M Dual Lock (better than velcro) to attach my garage door opener to the door of the glove box and my iPod to the left side of the glove box. Before this they both just bounced and flopped around the glove box.
