Here is a link to a post on the VOG where WickedWebby describes how to bypass (fool) the rev limiter in 5th and 6th for the Freedom 106 engine.

Im not sure, based on the type of the wire used on resistors, that I would rely on one that was grounded to the frame. Vibration and metal fatigue could make the longevity of this connection suspect. I've broken a bunch of leads modifying guitar electronics.

Maybe it should mounted in a box with the switch and isolated so that the leads couldn't break.

Then all you need is a paid up insurance policy, and a set of V-rated tires. Interesting disclaimer.

I sent a PM on theVOG.net to WickedWebby and he gave me permission to repost his information in the Tech Reference section.

If someone makes this mod on a Vision, it would be nice if they would take pictures and pass them to me so I can add them to the article.

'Teach,
Thanks for the post and all the help you have given to so many Victory riders. Just used one of your older informative post to get an IPOD cable for my '08. I also now have a killer Styrker 490 in my 2010 Dodge thatI think I got some help from you on another website. Now I am going to see what this little mod will do unless someone can get posted up before I get a chance to try it out. I know that with the cams and Stage 1 exhaust I hit the limiter easy and I'd just like to know.....

Thanks again people like RadioTeacher. You make forums a great place to learn, enjoy our hobbies, save money, etc. etc.

If I remember right, it was Lobsterhunter who was probably the first to do this on his Lloydz cammed and tuned Vision, and he hit a GPS verified 136 MPH.

According to my calculations, his bike would have been turning about 5100 or 5200 RPM at that speed, which is redline. I've been hearing that Lloyd has a way to reprogram the computer now that will allow the motor to spin to 6200 RPM, which would be 160+ MPH if one had enough power to pull it.

Scotty, we need more power, full throttle ahead! We'll show those snooty 'Wingers and BMW riders.

As far as I can tell, the limit on 4th is redline, where the computer says "No Mas".

Both 5th and 6th have limits.

Be careful out there!

Any ideas why it would still show 5th but not 4th and 6th with this mod done on an 08 vision.

Since the gear indicator is based on the resistance seen, then it is seeing the resistance value for 5th gear. In other words, you don't have the resistance value for 4th gear yet. Wrong resistor, or possibly a poor connection in your new circuit.

I'd like to hear the long term story on this of how many push it to the limit and not have any adverse affects. Limits are just that, to keep it from the blow-up point, which each motor would have its own.

I had a friend in HS who had a 302 chevy and he heard that they could RL at 9k. So he took a cinderblock and put it on the accelerator. Though it made a lot a racket and sucked in the valve covers it didn't blow up. It did make a lot of WOW for a while.

Lloyd Has newly programmed ECUS for Vision 6400 rpm redline in all 6 gears.. No more bumping rev limiter..wouldnt recommend it unless you have cams, intake plate and VFC III. I have had it over 6000 in first three gears, still pulling strong! stock vision kinda feels like it runs out of air at 4500 rpm..

well devilboy i think you confirm it that running to 6000 it still stays together over the long run. your right on running out of air at 4500, often hit it and know when to shift right at that mark...

never need it in 5th and certainly not in 6th....1, 2, 3 and 4 are the only places its needed. my cammed Vision need LOTS of room to get to 5400+ and when in 6th gear the MPH and RPM slowly decline. Think Lloydz ECM is the only way to go. Love the 6400 in 1 thru 4

Lloydz reprogrammed ECU will do the trick and change your timing a bit to perfect your motor. You can also up the RPM limit via the PC V too. Not sure why you would just one certain gears when you can do all the gears easily. Lloydz ECU is the way to go.
