Thanks JJ and a big thanks to Lloyd, a genius of sorts.

You've made it make sense to all that other stuff I've learnt about motors through the years. These V-Twins are of a differenct bred to me and this EFI is funky, but you've confirmed my issues without making me think I'm crazy.

I like the write up, but I can't wait to see how the masses handle his criticism of THEIR THROTTLE ETIQUETTE. I agree with him. I have had the same problem with the IAC but haven't seen anyway to fix it, other than his IAV. I got a little better response out of it after cleaning, but not really fixing the problem. I do wish the Victory team would have fixed these machines that have the backfire problem. I have never had the problem. I tried to do the blap the throttle and then close and open it again, etc. and almost had the machine die. But as Lloyd says I don't normally do that. Glad he took the time to write it down.

Well, Lloyd presents the WHY of popping very well. And thankfully - he agrees with me that it is something that can be overcome by the DRIVER.
I have mentioned in previous posts that my Stage 1 VV popped right from day 1 - and I overcame that with driving habits - very quickly.
When I had it KevinXinated the popping returned - and I have again adjusted, and now get NO popping. Or RARELY - when I get lazy in traffic.

So because the popping/backfire is not an issue with me - I have never spent a minute messing with gaskets, bolts, tuning and all that stuff.

As Chris would say: I'm just sayin' .....

One thing I might have missed is an answer to this question.

Does the occasional pop or backfire cause any real damage?

It causes the wife unit to hit me, but with no real damage. Wait, are we talking the same thing?
