I did have clutch slippage when I was using Amsoil. Now I am running Victory oil, making the shifting notchy, but I am surly know when it goes in gear. Plus I can get the Vision to pull in 2nd without hearing the clutch chatter.

So Paul, coming off the line at the local 1/4 mile drags everything is ok, it's just when you hit 2nd, the clutch tends to give up...is that the issue??

When I watched the utube video of the north america castrol manager, he stated that it was specifically for motorcycles with seperate engine and transmission reserviors. I'm I missing the transmission tank on my bike?? I decided not to use the castrol after the video and stuck with Vic oil.

If you watch the video again you may have missed his comment "it's made for all American made V-twin motors" I take that to mean Victory and he just couldn't think of the name as he was talking. Big mistake on his part if that is true. Another real poor marketing point he makes is the "Castrol is a BP company" OOOPs. I can think of a few reasons why this might not be a real motivator to buy thier product right now.

Bill, you know I have never been on a track. With my slow reflexes I would get my vision off of the line when the other lane passed the 1/8 mile mark.

After making a sharp right hand turns from a stop sign onto a busy four lane road I occasionally shift too soon to second gear with the engine is turning over 2500 rpm. If I let the clutch out too fast....I can feel the clutch slip and a few times (less then five) I have heard the clutch make a noise I will describe as a "chatter".

I can imagine that some day (in the next few years I hope) I will require a new clutch. None of this occurred before I ran Amsoil. I ran Victory oil for the first 5000 miles. I noticed it first at about 8000 miles after running Amsoil for about 3000 miles. I ran Amsoil for a total of 5000 miles and the slippage kept getting worse.

After reading Kevinx's posts from long ago I decided to switch back to Victory oil so.......

At 10000 miles I switched back to Victory oil and the slippage and chatter almost went away. I have heard the chatter once since then but I still feel the slippage from time to time.

I will chalk this up to a lesson learned for me. I have over 17,000 miles now and still shift too early or too late from time to time. I have improved a great deal in this regard but I still have room to improve.

Using Amsoil might be a good thing if your rhythm for shifting is perfect, its just not for me.

I ALWAYS pat my steaks with olive oil before I season them with garlic salt, garlic, pepper, and some Greek season that is the "berries'. It helps hold the seasoning on to the meat when it's on the grill.

Gary,

Really it is OK. Please let us know if you have any questions about your ride.

Where are you from and how many miles do you have on the Vision so far? I ride almost daily but the commute is short so I only have the 17,000+ miles on it so far.

SO..... I have read many oil threads and never have I seen the answer to.......Who makes the Victory oil? Don't understand why this mystery hasn't been solved.
I'll believe that it is a special exclusive bottle, but the juice inside comes from somebody's standard tank. Who's?

Here is some replies from Kevinx on the answer to that question.

Polaris industries, and Lube Tech have been working together in development, and engineering for 30+ years..........

All Polaris oils including Victory are made by a company called Lube Tech.

................go to Lube Tech's site, and you will be able to find out all about them. .................

Here is a link ......... http://www.lube-tech.com/ ........

Rumor has it that Amsoil will cause the clutch to slip on a Victory...........I've never seen or experienced this in over 60,000 miles of use. I did however watch a newer Kingpin this weekend try to do a burnout at the dealership. I have never seen (or heard) a clutch slip so bad in my life. Anyone want to guess which magic juice was in the crank case? Surprise, surprise, apparently Vic oil isn't slip proof either.

RR - I'm not surprised at that all, and wouldn't expect them to post that information. I would expect anyone using their services to make it transparent to that fact as they want you to buy Victory Oil, not Lube-Tech Blend. The concept makes sense in my mind, though what comes out of my pie-hole is worthless babble.

Welcome Gary.

I've never known a Victory to use any oil from one oil change to the next, but in a real emergency where you needed to add some oil, any good oil that meets the specifications (outlined in your owner's manual) will work. Just don't use any of the oils sold as "energy saving" since a lot of those have Teflon or something similar in them. Not good for your wet clutch. I would only use an oil that is 20W-something, and has the JASO MA rating. In other words, 20W-40, or 20W-50, and not 10W-30 or 10W- 40. In a REAL emergency, any oil is better than no oil...............

What constitutes an emergency? If a Vic is low on oil, you've got far worse issues than what kind of oil to use, sooooo, it don't matter, use 100% Virgin Olive Oil. funnin' and being serious at the same time.

If my bike is no longer a virgin, will it void my warranty to use virgin olive oil, or will it help to restore her virginity?
