The main reason I have been looking for a replacement for my Goldwing (not selling
it just yet) is foot position. Period. From day one of owning the Goldwing, I have wondered
if I would ever be able to get over not having my feet forward. Nope.

Along comes the Vision, and my wife Loves its far out looks. I love its ergonomics. The
fact it is American made has no bearing. So, what if this Triumph Rocket III, with its stump
pulling torque, was available at the same time as the Vision being introduced. Would you
have chosen it?

How do you make photos show??

I like the new Triumph Rocket.  I like the Goldwing.  I like the K1200GT/LT.  I like the FJR.  I like the ST1300.  I like the Concours 14.  Finding cool, modern bikes has never been hard.  They just happen to be made overseas.

The Vision can stand nose to nose with the finest bikes on the planet in the areas of quality, design, engineering, ergonomics, comfort, power and technology.  The fact that it is American is everything to me.

I'm a big Triumph fan, and I love that motor. Would have to ride one before I made up my mind.

I love the Goldwing. But when stopped, I have to stand up to get both feet flat on the ground. I'm inseam challanged. I sat on a Vision today. And it feels like it was custom built for me!!!!!!! And the SO loves the rear seat!!

I went to test ride a Rocket III after I got my Vision. When I saw the seat height was the same as a GoldWing I said never mine and never gave it a second thought.

I had a Goldwing also, could never get comfortable on it, sold it. I rode a Vision and then bought one, it is so much more comfortable with the long floor boards. I just put on a pair of Heel Blades from Cycle Ops and it gave me another position to get my legs stretched out can stay in the seat even longer now.

Owned a 2010 GW for 1 year and 26k miles. My wife was looking at a Victory so I test rode a Vision. I couldn't get comfortable on the GW and my wife got the crap beat out of her when she rode on back. Had her hop on the back of the Vision and go for a ride. Was cruising along at 70 mph and she asked how fast I was going. She was amazed at how much less buffeting she got on the Vision. After I bought the Vision we took a long ride. I was on the bike for 2 1/2 hours without getting off and was comfortable the whole time. On the GW I was ready to get off in 80 miles at most. Any more than that and my body was screaming at me.

The Rocket is a screamer but I am not sure I would want to take it on a long trip.

Parts, service and a dealer network would be my first concern. I know victory's network is nothing to brag about. But I can't imagine triumphs dealer network.

My Victory dealer was also a Triumph dealer. I was in the market for a new full dress touring bike, and it wasn't going to be another Goldwing. I had test ridden the Rocket III several times and really like it, but it wasn't a touring bike. Still, I was close to pulling the trigger on a new Rocket IIII. My dealer told me that both Victory and Triumph were coming out with touring bikes soon, so I waited.

The Rocket III Tour showed up and turned out to be just a windshield and saddlebag package on a detuned Rocket III. The Vision showed up and I thought it was ugly. Then I rode the Vision. And again. The looks were growing on me and the bike was fantastic. I've had a Vision ever since.

I have an '08 Vision and a '14 Rockett 3. Love the motor on the R3 but just cant get comfortable for long rides on it. Vision is still my go to bike. Will most likely let the R3 go and wait for Ma' Vic to bring us a new Vision... I hope!

Well here in Puerto Rico, there is a Honda/BMW/Triumph dealership. There is none Victory dealer, so the only Vision so far in the islnd is mine and I bought it in Indiana, drove it to Florida; finally shipped it to Puerto Rico.

I do like the Triumph Rocket III looks but not as much as I like the Vision; so I preferred to fly all the way to Indiana to get it rather than to buy the Triumph locally, this because I like big bikes as I also own a Valkyrie and I like to be comfortable and the Victory Vision is just unveliabable. Love it love it!

Mmmm.... maybe Victory had to "copy" from a British motorbike; to make their very own cycle?

j/k

Brits have been making Rockets before Victory dreamed up the current Vision. AFAIK there are no "problematic" gasket leaks on the R3...

Rocket III has a cable clutch, not hydraulic... great bike. Even better with the ported head, slipper pistons, reground cams and PCV5 installed.

Now... My Rocket is 240 horsepower, 186 ft lbs torque. It is not of this world anymore....

I did a test ride on a Rocket III Touring during Bike Week the year they came out with that particular model and was pretty impressed with it. You could tell it was a big bike just sitting on it but once I got'er up to maybe 5 mph the handling surprised me as did how well-sorted out it felt. About the only negative thing I had about it was I don't like the speedometer on the tank...so I'd probably have to get the tach/speedo off the standard Rocket III so I could put them on the handlebars where I think they belong. And I'm sure the gas mileage, compared to my Vision, wouldn't make me too happy.

I test rode the Rocket when it came out. It handles like a much lighter bike, and was certainly fun, but it was no Vision. I think it would depend mostly on where I was riding. If I was in the plains states and on nice roads in nice weather a lot, depending on my load requirements I guess it would be a consideration. But for 90% of my riding, the power and torque would be just a waste. I think the Vision is just more bang for bucks.

I wanted to check the Rocket III Touring out because, at the time I'd been living full time out of a pop-up and had been pulling it with an '85 K/100/RT beemer from '02 to '06, then a '97 Concours until last July. Both pulled the camper well but I was leaning toward either a Valkyrie OR that fine new Rocket III Touring because either engine would certainly pull my home easily.

Waiting to see how my Vision will do...I suspect it'll be a non-issue but the Vision is WAY more comfortable than any bike I've sat on.

That is some fine looking work done there. Nice bike and I'd bet the bike howls with the air intake(s) like that.

I read an article or it may have been an editorial in one of the bike mags a few years ago talking about the concern over Triumph dealerships and the relatively few there were. One thing that stuck in my memory about it was that Triumph and Kawasaki "share" a lot of parts. I don't know if it's because when the new Triumph company started producing bikes again they did it the way the Japanese manufacturers do or what, but it did make some sense to me. I'm guessing anyone who's had a Triumph any length of time would have access to one of those "conversion" charts to show which parts work where.

I used to buy a Honda auto radiator cooling switch for my local car parts store instead of paying the Kawasaki price for the bike part. It was roughly half the cost.

I had a 2003 Goldwing. I loved everything about it except the foot position. I spent more money on foot pegs trying to get comfortable. After a long trip from Chicago to Las Vegas on the Goldwing I finally decided to test ride a Vision. I loved the seating and foot position. I bought a 2011 Crimson red Vision and never looked back. I Now have a 2012 Arlen Ness Vision. I think the triumph is a very powerful bike, but I don't thing for touring I would choose it over the Goldwing or Vision. I will ride Visions for a very long time.

You Keep your Vision in a Shed?!! Not in a climate controlled garage where it can be seen and appreciated daily?! Oh thats just wrong, that's some kind of shameful neglect up there with animal cruelty.
