I'm leaving this morning on a less agressive ride to California. The way it looks I'm taking the high road and going to Castle Rock, CO. One reason I'm going this way is so I can meet up with the V2V folks who will be staying at Castle Rock Friday night. Also, it is a little cooler and will not stress out the bike as much. I'm rolling this morning with 71,006 miles on the clock.

I will also allow me to go through Wolf Creek Pass and on down to Flagstaff, AZ and across. If I stay on schedule, that will give me two days to 1,000 miles, a piece of cake.

I'll ride I-40 all the way back though on a more agressive schedule.

Thanks for all the input and advice, I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

========================
Day One - to at least St Louis vicinity.
I-95N to I-64W to St Louis, then I-70

Day Two - to Castle Rock, CO
Day Three - Wolf Creek Pass through Pagosa Springs on to Flagstaff, AZ
Day Four - I-40 to Barstow.

Should be way cooler. Mine that sounds like a road trip. Maybe see the movie Road Trip and see if yours turns out anything like that one. Good luck and fun riding.

movin' a little slow, 730 miles in 13 hours. 56mph avg. Need to pick it to 60mph avg tomorrow... castle rock...

Great day today, will put something on the blog later at Victory Riders network. Hitting the hay for an early departure.

Oh, also discovered if the upper wind deflectors are not all the way in, but parallel to the fairing, there is a pretty nice turbulence that keeps some of the heat off, good for me. It by no means replaces the lowers for those that prefer them.

Where you going in California? How long you staying. I leave Santa Cruz area of California tomorrow for three week trip North and East to enclude, among other things, Devil's Tail Loop in N.E. Oregon. Happy travlin', BS

Varyder,

What route through Ca. will you be taking? If near I-5 in N. Ca. and would like to take a stretch and cool down let me know. I am taking some vacation time the next week and a half so I will be around.
