I'll be leaving the Barstow area around mid-day Thursday. The stay here has been super busy, and the only thrill ride besides the 45 miles to Fort Irwin, one way, was my getting my kicks on Route 66 between Barstow and Victorville.

I'll head up to above Bakerfields to visit my cousin, then Friday it is on to Reno area to visit some Uncles and Aunts. Saturday should be the loneliest road (RT 50) to Colorado and Sunday, across Colorado and on as far as I can make it east. Monday should be my last leg into Va.

VARYDER,

You will enjoy the ride across hwy 58 from Tehacapi down into the valley on the way to Bakersfield. If you need to stop at a Victory dealer there is one at the North end of Bakersfield. "Valley Cycle".
Its too bad you did not have enough time to get all the way to the PCH and ride with us out here. I know it would have been fun.

I think you will be the first member of the 100,000 club, if there is such a thing for us Vision-Riders!

Enjoy the rest of your trip back to VA.

I ran that route last November after crossing Death Valley and enjoyed the ride...ran into some snow up near Yosemite but it was a really great ride. 395 runs through the Toiyabe National Forest north of Yosemite and there are some great twisties and the scenery is fantastic.

You will enjoy it.

Took off from Fallon in Sept. '85 for the lonely ride. Have a good time. 25 yrs. ago there was a little gas station- casino - motel at the Nevada - Utah border. Real friendly gal ran the place, wonder if it's (she) still there?
Ride Safe varyder, and watch the gas.

I stopped at the hotel to get Gas, good thing, I would have never made it. That's were I met the Aussies who were riding the country on BMWers. I wish I could have stayed longer to talk, as one was asking a lot of question on the Vision. He's checked into them and know a few down under have them. When I told them how many miles I had he said that I probably had the highest mileage Vision in the world. I assured him there were others, but I was up there somewhat. He really liked that it came with E3s.

I don't know about the gal working there, but it was a real friendly place, one day I'll be able to wander, but this has been one great trip.

Heading out in about 10 minutes from Kansas City, MO, last leg home, just a 1,090 miles a head of me... my wife is standing at the door listening for the sound of my Freedom 106 V-Twin....

Good to know. Sounds like you had a great time! Time to rest and recover....and I am guessing but the Vision might need some maintenance.

Later make a new thread on how the Vision and you did on the ride.

Being into astronomy, that kinda looks like the Big Dipper! I'm planning a ride like that with some friends next year. Not at your pace though. Three of the others will be on HD's, so that pace just isn't possible, hehe.
