So you are saying that you paid for the automatic ass wiper? I was sure that you got the industrial strength one from Victory for free...

Ok, so I decide to visit my favorite BMW dealership on the way back from PA and stop at Morton's BMW in Fredericksburg, VA, so I can look at a pair of summer boots (they did not have them in my size). I end up poking my head into the owner's office and mention the fate of Catlin's. He had not heard about their closing (I admitted that I did not know whether they were dropping the line, or closing altogether). He had some questions about Victory that I tried to answer, but the bottom line that we both agreed on was that there has been a void in the BMW lineup that has not been filled ever since they discontinued their cruiser line the R1200C a number of years ago, and that a second line at Morton's would be attractive and that there seemed to be an overlap of clientele makeup between the two lines, as both seem to attract wanna be engineers and overstimulated doctors and lawyers He said he would look into it further. Guys, if he were to pick up the line, it would fill a huge void in dealerships, and the Morton's dealership is first class, both in the way they treat their customers, and in the way they service their lines of bikes and accessories. Do me a favor, those of you more connected than I (I have no stake in this-I live in Va Beach and have a dealership close by)-call your contacts at Victory and have them call Jeff the owner at Morton's. Let them take the initiative. It would impress him and could be a hugely positive step. BTW, he also owns a farm/industrial equipment store thaqt has been around for 80 years, so he would be able to carry the full line. Morton's BMW, Ste A, 5099 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22408-4272, (540) 891-9844

Me too, F'Burg is too far, I'm in Midlothian. Morton's is nice, I designed the fire sprinkler system there, but somebody in Richmond has got to pick up the line. Catlins, is a Vic only dealer, maybe things would have been different if they sold Polaris too, who knows....i sure hate seeing them go.

I haven't bought a Victory yet but i will be getting a Vision in the future, my only option to buy at now is VA Beach/Chesapeake area. Still 80 miles no matter what.

They told me the owners where just retiring. Not that business was bad. The owners are the grandparents on the mech. I think and they are ready to enjoy retirement. If you are speaking of the one in chesepeake, I am not fond of them at all. I drive out of my way to go to Catlins.

<--- Three Visions in Midlothian. The Catlins are personal friends of mine, Here is the scoop so there isnt any misinformation.
The dealership is owned by the parents Theresa and Ricky Catlin, their two sons Jeremy (general manager) and Nick(service manager) along with Julie (Jeremy's wife sales manager) run the operation. The Catlin family have been doing this for almost 9-10 years and decided earlier this year that they all are ready to move on to a new phase in their lives. Theresa and Ricky wanna not have a business to worry about so they can travel and be grandparents. Julie was accepted into nursing school and starts this fall. Jeremy is already doing some landscape and contractor/carpentry work on the side which is growing quickly. (I have referred at least 8 of my clients to him for work). Nick
is looking at a possible job with Va. Power. The company did well this year, they have sold their complete 2010 inventory already and only have two bikes left on the showroom. Their decision wasnt a reflection on Polaris, Victory, or their dealership, it was just the appropriate time for each of them to follow their next road. I too am disappointed and it took me a while to get over the "well, its not just about me" mentality. Im fortunate that we are all good friends and I will still have Nick and Jeremy to work on my bike after they close.
I hope that a decent dealership buys the line, or someone new who isnt bringing negative motorcycle baggage into the Victory product.
We have several half ass motorcycle dealerships here in town, none of which could do justice to Victory. My hope is that someone with some positive cash can step up and pay the 200,000 required up front for Polaris to sign a deal with them as a new replacement dealership.

ok, thats the true story. Dont believe anything else you may hear.

Thanks for the heads up. Well im glad it's not bad buissness, makes it more atractive for somebody else to pick up. I wish they would keep it in the family and let the Grandson take it.

Thanks VA. I don't have a Vision yet, but I'm hoping to get one next year, I wish the 2011s would have had a Black one though. I ride a M109R now, keeping it for the fun bike and getting a Vision as soon as I'm able. Saving for it.
My Church riding group is having a quick 80 mile ride this Saturday at 9AM if you want to come, any VA guys/gals are welcome. We'll stop for coffee and go riding. No religous pressure, just people that like to ride and talk about bikes, life, adventures, whatever.....
check us out here (copy and paste this to your browser):

www.facebook.com/SouthsideRiders

check out the pics and the 08-21-10 poster under the events tab for info. So far we have 6-8 bikes for this Saturday's ride.

We meet at Southside Church at 288 and Courthouse (the big church), kickstands up at 9:00AM.

P.S.
Do you think Commonwealth Power Sports will pick them up in Colonial Heights? They have been really good with service on my 109 and wifes M50. They would have the room for it too.

Commonwealth Power Sports (so i heard from reliable source)... dont ask.... is having some personel issues. Seems the new owner
wanted to pay the sales staff commission only no base salary or hourly pay. Comes as no surprise, most of the staff quit. So they are in the midst of re-hiring for many positions. As a retail manager, I know i couldnt hold employees if i required them to work 8 hours but only paid them if they sold something. Your question about them picking up the Victory Line,,, would make me leary, if this is how they run
their business practices, do i really want them selling and servicing my Victory?? bottom line,,,, we'll see.

When did Commonwealth get a new owner? It's been 3-4 months since I was there. My personal experience was very good with service, could have been the last owner though.

Man I'm hooked on the Vision, I wish we could get one now......! At least when we do, I'll know what I want to do with it. Do you think if I got a Ness Vision they could raise it to the normal height? I have to have black and I like getting into the twisties, an inch can make a big difference. Just wondering if it's just a matter of changing out the bones. Still can't figure out why they didn't keep a black in the regular line up for 2011.

Wow. - the count is rising. So there is two in Hampton Roads, one in Virginia Beach, the other Norfolk. Then there's the one in Lynchburg (Forest) and I believe there is one in Roanoke. Also, there's one in Goldsboro, NC and of course there is Southern Maryland. Oh, and there's one in Harrisonburg. Sounds to me Victory is doing good.
