OK, at the risk of getting a sermon on "why are you trying to mod a perfectly good bike, I got all excited at replacing my front turn signal lamps to clears & LED's to match my rear end (mod I did successfully 6 months ago).  Was able to tear the bike down to remove turn signal lamps . . . took some time, but not overly difficult. 

Trial 1: Installed Amber LED's & tapped in load equalizers to each side's TS wire (BLU and RED/BLU) and Ground (BLK).  Lamps lit up, but I got a fast blink on RH turn signal (dash light blinked RH).  I got a slow blink for LH (but BOTH LH and RH dash lights blinked).  Rear turns lit up fine except for speed of blinking.  I retapped the load equalizers thinking one of the connections was not tight.  No change.

Trial 2: I decided to try incandescents (thinking LED's were the issue).  I removed load equalizers and went to amber bulbs and sockets Volusia provided (C1 - 10014 Sockets and 3757KA amber bulbs).  Same blinking issues as with LEDs. I did notice that when I hit LH turn signal that there was a very feint pulsing of the RH signal element.

Here's where it gets weird.

Trial 3: I put everything back to stock.  Clear 3157 bulbs and C1 - 9070 sockets.  Same exact issue as trial 1 and 2.

Called Pete at Volusia and he was very patient in talking me through things, but it was end of the day and they were closing up. 

Anyone have any thoughts?  Does this blink condition equate to any specific error codes?  My bike is now torn apart in may garage in an un-ridable condition with closest dealer 1.5 hrs away.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

First thing I would check is your grounding circuit. ( assuming you were changing sockets ). It sounds like the signals may be trying to ground through the running light circuit. Retrace your ground wires for correct hookup and connection.

Thanks for lead. Looking at wiring diagram. Looks like Ground wire is Black and runs back to Chassis #2 ground and relay. How would I trace this back? Where is Chassis #2 connection.

Is it possible relay is blown? How would I know? I used a TapIt to splice in LE, then I removed it. It does puncture wire, but I taped it back up . . . could there be an issue here?

I saw in the shop manual that I should try disconnecting the rear lighting at the harness to see if it changes anything. I did and now incandescent amber bulbs work, but with a quick flash. I wonder if there is a grounding issue in the back that is effecting the front? Rear was all working fine before this install. I'll try going back to amber incandescent rear (instead of LED's) and remove load equalizers to see if it fixes the problem.

Any other ideas?

you're on the right track with the grounding. The wire diagram should show all the points. I'd check all of them good.

Where do the grounds terminate? I can't tell from diagram. I'm an electrical novice. I wish things were as simple as plug and play

The grounds can terminate anywhere that has continuity to the neg. battery terminal. Of the wires you are dealing with find out all the grounds and measure the ohms resistance to a known good ground source, for example the frame. You should have continuity or no resistance. Lets say of your bulb socket there is a ground wire, measure the ground at the bulb socket to chassis ground.

With thanks to the people on this board, Pete from Volusia, and my trusty shop manual, I found my problem and got my turn signals working properly!

Turns out that I had burned up a load equalizer in my rear end by running the flashers for too long during my testing of the front. If you get error flashing, an easy way to isolate whether problem is in front of bike or rear is to disconnect the harness under the seat that runs to back end . . . if flashing goes back to normal after doing this, then problem is in rear.

It was a Kuryakyn LE that was shrink wrapped . . . got too warm, wrap separated, metal terminals/connectors were exposed. I removed LE and problem was resolved!

Now I have fast blinking, but Pete suggested to put in a 2010 Cross Country flasher module in and it will correct the problem without worrying about LE. Evidently it was designed for LED's and fits the 2009 Vision. Sweet! The guys at Volusia are awesome to deal with, have excellent customer service and were willing to spend some time with me troubleshooting my issues. Heck, Pete even gave me his cell number to call him in evening if I needed. If you haven't dealt with these guys for your aftermarket mods, you should!

I wonder if that same module will work in the 08 Vision. LED's are my next upgrade.

man314 sorry to here you had problums , you will have to let us all know how the 2010 cc flasher works out , I am planing on going to all led's this winter, Did you get the led bulbs that light up clear and amber?
