Just took the seat off to inspect shock and found grey connector that is not attached to anything. Any idea what this is?

There was an earlier post on this. Check for earlier posts. I can't recall what this part is for. It's on the tip of my tongue, sorry.

That is probably the connector for the optional console mounted powerlet, it mounts in the center console just about where the "front of bike" caption is in the bottom picture.

You are correct. This plug matches the plug on the powerlet optional plug. There is also one at the rear under the right side rear speaker (usually tied up on the wire harness). This one is for the optional passenger powerlet plug. The front one is controlled by the ignition switch and the rear one is always live, directly to the battery. They are both on 15 amp fuses. The rear one can be used as an alternate connection to a battery tender through the powerlet plug rather than having to get down on the floor to connect to the factory installed pigtail at the battery box.

So, being an old, fat guy with a bad knee and back, does the factory (or anyone) make a moldex plug that goes into that lead and has a battery tender style plug on the other end? This subject is EXACTLY what I was asking about a few days ago-If no, where can I get just the male plug portion of that harness and I'll make my own.

SYNSTR, someone here routed their battery connector (the one that is already on the battery) to around the area under the seat. I just spent a few minutes looking for the post, but can't find it.

Thanks everyone.

I do find about 49 out of 50 questions I have by searching through the archives, but this one stumped me.

I didn't thgink the stock pig tail was long enough. When I asked my dealers service guys about re-routing the plug to somewhere higher on the bike than the drain plug for the engine the answer was, the 'front pipe will melt it'.

SYNSTR - Try www.powerlet.com Look for cables. Part # PAC-008-06 for $15.95. They make them in lengths up to 30 inches (P/N PAC-008-30 for $19.95). Hope this helps

You can tap the battery tender or any accessories into the grey plug using male flag terminals. Be sure to wrap it with self sealing electrical tape if you do (not the cheap vinyl crap). Or get a 25' extension here for $11.60. I took a plastic tie and tied up my battery connector to a frame point at the top of the left swoosh. Easy to get to even when hot and keeps the charger cable safe.
