While I was cleaning some things up in the garage yesterday (read bored !) I had a 2 1/2" to 2" exhaust reducer and I wondered what would happen if I used the 2" piece in the outlet of the AB's.
The ID of the AB's are 2" so I cut off the 2" side of the reduce and cut a slit down it so that I could reduce its OD and stick it in the AB's outlet. The AB's outlet is right at 2.00 and with the reducer in there it about 1.85 - not much. I didn't know what kind of an effect it would have on the sound or feel.
The nice part is I did this yesterday and couldn't ride it right away because of the rain so I kinda forgot that I did it when I went out today and took it for a ride.
It does make a difference ! It make the pipes a little less blatty. You know - when you rev it up and it goes blllaaaaat. It seems to have smoothed out the exhaust note.
When I drove it I felt it had given the throttle more responsiveness. I didn't get to go far before it started raining - and man was it COLD out there ! It must have been in the 50's !! 
I'll do some longer riding as soon as the rain stops and see if it's just me or if this really did make a difference. |
