Desert Hot Springs (Palm Springs area), CA | Having just got "Nessy" I wanted to install an alarm. I own a TW200 that I installed a Gorilla alarm and like it so much that I thought I'd put one on my Vision. (Yes an alarm on a Yamaha TW200! )
Where to put it, was the question. I ended up putting it under the front window faring, directly below the electric windshield mechanism. It fit perfectly with the main lower/raising arm just "kissing" the top of the alarm when it was down. I used the double-sided Velcro supplied by Gorilla and it fits / works perfectly.
I found power from the left fuse box "Secondary Lights" fuse. I used the hot side and just put the alarm + into the fuse holder and put the fuse back in, creating a nice compression fit. For the neg. side I used one of the self tapping screws and put it directly into the ample frame next to the alarm.
The alarm has a blinking warning light when "armed" that I installed on the right side empty switch blank on the console.
I'm quite please with the results! The alarm is: Gorilla 7007. Just Google it if you want to learn more. A great eBay purchase for $65 including shipping.

Rockford, IL | Does this alarm have any type of shut off switch? In case the remote is lost or the remote battery dies?
Or is it a pull the fuse type thing if this happens.... |

Pittsburgh, PA | ive had a few alarms on motorcycles in past. the reason i dont have one now is.. I have had all of them False alarm too often and then i noticed when they would go "off" no one cared.. no one even Looked! then the siren on most of these motorcycle alarms are quiet compared to a car alarms and sound like a video game.. ive had them with pages, prox sensors you name it. In the end it was more of a toy than a useful feature. the most useful feature to REALLY protect you is to have better coverage with your insurance company.. set a motorcycle alarm off in a busy parkinglot and see how many people dont even bother looking...... |

If I were to lose the remote while it is armed, I can remove the front window faring and simply unplug the alarm. Only we vision owners know how to pull off the front faring...

True, folks might not care BUT I'm thinking it would scare the bad guys enough for them to leave it alone. Also, some insurance companies give you a break if you have an alarm. Mine does! So for $65 I'm in.
The Gorilla alarm is LOUD and equal to any car alarm I've heard. Gorilla also makes car alarms so they know how to make noise!
I've great coverage via Geico - I had a bike stolen and they covered it completely. I just don't want to have another bike, that I've made "mine," get raped like the one that was stolen was. The setting up of the 2nd replacement bike just wasn't the same as the first baby!
My goal in the alarm is just to possibly deter any knuckleheads.

Pittsburgh, PA | I can only speak for the insurance companies I have been with, progressive geico all state nation wide and state farm, they do Not give discounts for aftermarket alarms systems, only oem factory installed units, one of my previous insurance companies said thy would give a 10% discount if the trained installer would sign some type of legal insurance paper stating that he was trained in the proper installation of so and so alarm. And back then I couldn't find any shop that would sign anything like that at all. Now keep in mind this was in Pennsylvania under their insurance laws.... Now Lo jack they give discounts for, but other nothing here in pa... |

Canada | My insurance company insisted that I have an alarm installed to have theft and vandalism coverage. Installed a Gorilla and quite happy with it. |

Canada | I got the 8017 with the paging system. The tilt sensor and antenna are installed in the front top of the right saddle bag. The light indicator is on the dash, just behind and centre to the windshield. I am not positive of the exact location of the alarm unit and shock sensor.

This post is right on time for me! I uninstalled my Gorilla alarm from my VYX, and am planning to install it in my new 2011 Vision. Just gotta figure out how to remove that front cowling first. I've downloaded the tech manual for the vision, but an still a little unclear as to how removing it. I don't want to break any plastic.....

Houston, Tx | You think that is fun, wait 'till you get to remove body panels or say the entire lower rear end panels for pipe replacement and/or tail light replacement (I installed the sequential tail light harness...wasn't a defective bulb. Thought I should clarify). You'll soon find out how much fun it is to have all that plastic laying 'round the garage, LOL !!!
