Does anyone what weight fork oil is stock for the Vision?
Has anyone used a heavier weight oil? With what result?

I believe that the stock weight is 71/2 but it isn't really stated. I used the Honda Proline 10 weight and it works great.

Mudge, I know there have been several threads on this. I also went to 10w synthetic and really like the results. It was not a huge change for sure as the Vic front end felt good with the stock oil. But just seems to have tightened up the front a little bit.

Thank you. My Vision is coming due for 30,000 mile service and I was thinking of going to either Silkoline or Amsoil 10 weight synthetic fork oil to try and lessen the front brake dive, which I think is a bit excessive, and thought that it might improve handling just a bit. I have been reading that there is no real standard for the "weight" ratings that the various manufacturers assign to their fork oils, so it's a bit of a crap shoot, but I'll give it a try and hope for the desired result. I have even read of people using automatic transmission fluid (Mostly Mobil 1 Dexron III) with good result. I'm a compulsive tinkerer and can't stand to leave well enough alone. My motto, "If it works, fix it 'till you break it".

I used 10wt No real diff from the old stock oil. Now that I have a basline with the brand I used I can mix it to design my own wt. I think 12.5 would be just firm enough.

Wouldn't you think when the front end dives down its forcing the tire to bit hard on the road making stopping distance shorter?

Yes, but going from 7.5 to 10 weight won't make any practicle difference. My not insubstantial body weight alone will more than compensate for any difference.

I don't know what weight it is. But if you don't have the tool your not going to change it. This is motion pro tool

Now all you need is a manual to tell you how.

can we do our own fork fluid change? is there anything special that needs to be done other than drain and make sure you refill them to the proper level?

I have used this for years, always good results. This is my current oil in the Vision forks.

I'll be having my dealer do it, along with a belt replacement and 30,000 mile service. I'll just supply the fluid, if he doesn't have what I want. His wrench has both the experience and expertise I lack and it's too important to risk my screwing it up. Getting ready for the approximate 5000 mile round trip to the VMC National Meet in August.

Seriously too simple. If I've not screwed up yet, anybody could do this. Keep in mind, this is just an oil change, purging, cleaning and refilling, half hour each cylinder. I just do a simple flush with clean oil after purging all the old oil out. However, KevinX did recommend a cleaner to go through and flush the old fluid and build up out. This is my third change in 92,500 miles and no leaks or ill-affects.

Three notes: One, read the book. Two, book recommends a spring compressor, get it, but I do mine without it. Three, it also recommends the fluild level tool, I made my own.
