I like I think many of you have thought the speakers on the 2008 through 2011 Vision's have been 2 to 2.6 ohm speakers. The replacement speakers we have used for the most part have been 2 ohm speakers including the J&M's, Infinity's and others. I have the J&M speakers in my 2008 Vision along with the Infinity tweeters for the front and they sound awesome.

I just installed the same set up on a friend's 2010 Vision and while the tweeters sounded good the J&M speakers sound very distorted so I thought maybe they changed the impedance and or power on the new 2010 radio from the 2008 - 2009 version. It sounds like the speakers are being over driven by the bikes amp.

I called Radio Sound today and talked to one of their engineers whom I hve talked with before and he assured me that speakers for all model year Visions are 4 ohm and not 2 ohm and that if you have 2 ohm speakers attached to change them to 4 ohm. He also said the power output is the same on all versions of the Vision radio.

Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

I had spoken to them (Radio Sound) and got the same answer...4 ohm impedance...I never followed through with my speaker upgrade though...

The speakers on the 2011 VV are actually 3.6 ohm. I had a stero shop run a test when I went to replace them. wanted to make sure I could match up close. The speakers I went with are the Hertz speakers. I did a lot of comparison with the Polk, Infin, JM etc and the Hertz were the best. I took my son with me since he is majoring in sound engineering in college and has a perfect ear (been tested) He agreed the Hertz were the best sounding. Neither of us have heard of them before. Very pleased with them

Riverdawg,

Please post the models and other info on these Hertz speakers. Did you have to make the speaker compartment bigger to fit them in?

If this is true, I may pursue getting either my money back from J&M, or demanding an exchange. I didn't
pay big bucks to get a bad product.

radioteacher; the Hertsz speakers I used in the front are the DCX 130, they fit right in, plug and play, no wire mods required. For the back I put in the ECX 130, they have a bigger magnet and won't fit the front but plenty of room in the back. These have a little more richness to them and bit more bass. I would have liked to put them in the front but would require removing the speaker box or heating it up and molding it. The DCX are very nice sounding in the front. DCX $100 pair, ECX $150 pair. Also you dont need an amp to drive them. I can hear them plenty loud at a 8 or 9 volume going down the highway. Wife says she can finally hear the music on the back although only at speeds under 45 mph. If I crank it to 10 or 11 she can hear the music at 70 mph but it loud for me.

They read like they are very efficient. Where did you get them. The only places I can find them online is overseas.

Stereo King in Portland OR. they have 5 locations. Very good place. Install in M/bikes, ski boats etc. One of the guys at the 82nd ave location has done work on a vision. phn 503-653-8088. What I liked was they had a wall of all the speakers mentioned on this site and VMC. I was able to compare. When I told the guy I had a Vision he said listen to these and you will be sold. I was. The parts guy at the Portland Vic dealership turned me on to them.

Yes, the speaker size and specifications are the same for 2008 through 2011 Visions.

You can get them on woofersect.com. They are currently going for $89.99. Almost bought them....Have to see if I can install the Polks without too much changing things. I love the thought of plug & play!
