Does anyone know if the stereo wattage was increased or cleaned up with the upgrade or is it just new speakers? Speakers are key,but if you don't have a clean head unit with clean power and signals going the speakers its kinda a waste. No one I know can tell me.. Thanks guys..

This is probably no help but, I had a 2008 vision and I now have a 2011. In the past I had to have the stereo up to 12 when cruising around town. Now with the 2011 I'm getting the same volume while being at 8-9 .. I know this isn't tech specs. Lol

I have an 09 & just put Kicker PS5250 (2 ohm) speakers on all 4 corners....HUGE DIFFERENCE! Great clarity, no distortion & even a hint of bass if you so choose. For the sound on a bike, I think they are fine used with the stock stereo.

I put a pair in my wife's vision and I have been really happy with the results. She did not really notice it until I told her I replaced them... They are cleaner - less distortion and a little more base.

I have Polks on all four corners with an amp. Huge difference. I can actually cruise at 85 with music.

Which amp do you have? I was running a pair of Polks in the front (have the trunk off) and an Alpine amp... I witched over to Infinitys because the Polks just were not loud enough at speed on the freeway.

The Polks I thought had sounded much better then the Infinitys... Thinking of a different amp now...

$190 a pair from R&R Car Audio in Columbia MO. The owner, Dave, is a member of our Victory Club & a great guy to deal with to boot! He has them in 2 ohm, which I used, or 4 ohm. The PS prefix stands for Power Sport....the manufacturers are realizing there is a whole untapped market in that market segment.

Thanks Tonyj! Another question? Does it make any difference if you use 2ohm or 4 ohm? And what does original speakers run on, 2ohm's or 4 ohm?

It's an old Pyle 4x75, nothing special but it works. I don't have any problem hearing music until 100mph or so. A little distortion between 85 and 100. And I really shouldn't be listening to music then anyway lol.

I just checked a set from my '10 and '11 and they were both 3.5-3.6 ohms so 4 ohm replacement would be correct I would think.

I have the Victory Kickers up front, and the J&M's in the trunk. I am very disappointed with the J&M's... they clip out way to easily.... I just ordered a pair of Kuryakyn 5.25" Kicker 2-ohm Speakers 875 for Harley, which appear to be identical to the PS5250's from Victory... for a lot less $$ Only $125 from an Ebay store...

Does anybody know what the effect is of running 2 ohm speakers in place of the original 4 ohm speakers? Does the reduced resistance cause any technical issues and what effect does it have on the sound? I did a google search and many of the returns mention degraded sound quality and a possibility of damage to the amplifier when running 2 ohm speakers with an amplifier rated for 4 ohm speakers. In my case, I wear earplugs and run the radio at full volume on the highway so I'm wondering if max output coupled with lower speaker resistance is liable to break something over time.

Umm.. the factory Vision speakers are indeed 2ohm, not 4ohm....

I measured two sets from my old '10 and the current '11 and unless I'm doing something wrong the resistance between their leads was consistently 3.5 - 3.6 ohms on a high quality meter. Kicker also specs all Victory OE heads at 4 ohms. Where did the 2 ohm spec come from? Interesting.

From Hifisoundconnection.com:

PS5250 coaxial speakers are now available in 4-Ohm resistance to be compatible with 1998-2005 Harley-Davidson? and all Victory? OEM head units. They also come in 2-Ohm resistance to be compatible with 2006-and-later Harley-Davidson OEM head units, or conventional amplifiers that are 2-Ohm stable per channel.

Impedance vs. Resistance

If I take a any Volt-Ohm meter and measure a long thin wire on the resistance scale. I get a reading of the DC (Direct Current) Resistance of the wire.

Speakers do not do Direct Current.

Speakers convert an Alternating Current into sound. Measuring the Impedance of a speaker takes a very different piece of test equipment. This equipment generates an AC test signal and measures the current used by the speaker to calculate the speakers impedance in ohms for that frequency.

A speakers impedance varies based on the frequency of the test signal.

For what I have learned the Vision uses 4 ohm speakers. Using a 2 ohm speaker in a 4 ohm system doubles the current produced by the stock radios' amplifier. This can shorten the life of the final transistors of the stock amp and cause them to overheat. Some systems can protect them selves from failure....other cannot.

I just talked to Kicker tech support. He said that the 4 ohm version of the PS5250's are new this year. All previous models were 2 ohm... and since Victory has had them as an option for a while, they are probably the 2ohm speakers. The factory speakers should be stamped with their resistance, so I will go home at lunch and see if I can find that mark. I can say that the Victory Kickers up front sound much better than the J&M's I installed in the trunk.... which is why I ordered another set of Kickers... albeit the Kury packaged one's for HD for a lot less money. Both the Kuryakyn Kicker 2ohm and 4ohm are less than $130.

Here's the info on J&M's Victory upgrade speakers. They specifically state that they are 2 ohm !

Product Description
Fairing Speaker Upgrade Kit for 2008-2012 Victory Vision/CrossCountry
# FSPU-VCTV

Our wide fidelity fairing speaker upgrades for the 2008-2012 Victory? Vision or CrossCountry will allow the volume to be adjusted to maximum at highway speeds, without distortion.

They feature the same exact dimension mounting hole pattern and electrical spade lug size/polarity as the stock speakers, to make installation a snap.

Rated at 2 ohms impedance (2.6 ohms actual) and 140 watts max power, they feature a very thin, hard, injection molded polycarbonate cone, titanium colored dust cover, super flexible rolled edge, high sensitivity voice coil and high flux strength Neodymium magnet structure, to provide for maximum air movement, along with superior response.

You will be impressed by the significant improvement in volume and sound quality while riding your Vision. ((sold in pairs))

Looking at the OE speaker there is no stamping but does have a label on the back of the magnet. It says "4012273, REV.01, RSI# 37039, 09.04.08 USA". There is no other markings on the speaker. Interesting that J&M specs 2 ohms and Kicker specs 4 ohms which is what radioteacher mentioned.

All four of mine say Rev.02. I also want to re-emphasize that Kicker only recently (in the last few months) came out with the 4ohm version of the PS5250 speakers. All the ones that Victory has been selling in their upgrades are the 2ohm versions that have been out for quite a bit longer.

I believe the following post could explain how 2ohm speakers are used on a 4ohm head unit..

Location: Albuquerque, NM I read on here somewhere on here or the vmc site that the speaker impedance is 2 ohms. I believe the head unit is 2 channel running one chan. front & one rear and the ouput impedance per channel is 4 ohms. That would kinda confirm that each speaker is 2 ohms with the front two and rear 2 speaker conn. in series (4 ohms) correct? There is a fader control but no balance control I think....need to check.
